Job Location: Sunnyvale, CA
During our 10-week summer internship program, you’ll join our Engineering team who build data and machine learning pipelines that deliver personalized health and ancestry insights with applications in precision prevention and healthcare.. You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills such as research and implement new improvements to our data in a corporate setting.

What You’ll Do
- Research and implement new improvements to our data and/or machine learning pipelines. Example projects include:
- Explore parquet data storage optimizations
- Backend data plotting to improve performance
- Update the deployment strategy for a django API
- Real time streaming etl aggregations
- Big data visualizations
- Work closely with colleagues on the engineering team to put research results into action.
- Be able to stay on top of state-of-the-art technologies and apply them in the job.
What You’ll Bring
- You are excited about data intensive and machine learning applications and storage systems in healthcare
- You have a passion for making simple, robust, and scalable tools/platforms used by other teams
- You favor collaboration over isolation
- Proficiency with python programming
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
- Good understanding of machine learning principles
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Authorization to work in the US
Strongly Preferred
- Prior industry internship experience
- Experience with data processing/machine learning python libraries (pandas, pyarrow, numpy, tensorflow, etc.)
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s (Juniors/Seniors) or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field
