The Real-World Data (RWD) team focuses on supporting insights generation and sharing of insights within our data. Data collected include, but are not limited to, clinical and economic outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, and health-related quality of life. All teams in R&D can benefit from real world data and our team is tasked to make the data integration, applications, and project process seamless for researchers and scientists. RWD team works across multiple data assets to bring a curated picture of insights to the business so experts can spend time extracting knowledge. RWD experts hope to share knowledge with asset teams and develop wisdom that can be shared external to AbbVie and make a remarkable impact on patient lives.
Responsibilities
- Partners with R&D teams to understand, influence and enable short and long-term solution needs and helps execute strategies to address those needs
- Understand specific challenges and opportunities linked to real world data and recommending solutions aligned with business direction
- Directly working with Health Economics Outcomes and Epidemiology scientists to scale well defined coding standards across multiple datasets and indications
- Facilitates reoccurring involvement from key stakeholders to capture the real-world data use case rules for the inception of scalable and reusable projects
- Using cloud-based technologies like AWS, Cloudera Data Platform to access data and manipulated to be fit for purpose
- Works collaboratively with upstream and downstream partners and fosters regular communication and collaboration
- Effectively organize and present solution objectives and alternatives
- Produces and maintains required documentation associated with work product
- Drive continuous improvement of the real-world data technology tools and libraries
- Willingness to Learn technologies like Hadoop, Big Data, Centree, Qlik, Dash etc
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with business users and to collaborate on projects that maximizes business value
- Technical expert that will independently identify, develop, and optimize new business technology solutions to address critical business needs through the integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data sets.
- RWD Scientists will independently identify and optimize technology solutions that address critical business needs within projects and for the team to scale solutions.
- Proactively identify areas where existing data/code could create new business insight, highlight opportunities, improve business processes, or gain cost efficiencies
- Lead multiple RWD data projects simultaneously and support the use of various types of data such as: claims, electronic health records, survey, registry studies, etc.
- Requires good communication skills, analytical skills, understanding of technology and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff
- Strong Python object-oriented coding is required
- Exceptional SQL skills and experience with large data volumes over 1 billion rows
- Strong analytical skills combined with experience in creating visualization for business stakeholders
- Experience leading project teams – both with direct and indirect staff
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of experience, Master’s Degree, or equivalent experience and typically 4 years of experience
- Background in life sciences or work experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required.
- Background in Health Economics or Outcome based research and publication is highly desired
