The Clinical Data Analytics Specialist will assimilate data generated from clinical studies and associated clinical trial operations into visualizations, dashboards, data models and reports that will reveal actionable insights related to the study conduct for the Medical Office. She/he will interact directly with members of Clinical Affairs to gather requirements to program the desired analytic outputs. The Clinical Data Analytics Specialist may collaborate with Abiomed internal/external partners to integrate with non-clinical system generated data to foster a comprehensive repository of clinical evidence. She/he will be part of a strategic team dedicated to fostering a culture founded upon data driven decision making.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gathers requirements from members of Clinical Affairs and the broader Medical Office.
  • Assimilates data from various environments and generates visualizations, dashboards, data models and reports that render actionable insights regarding clinical study conduct.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance data collection/metrics by proposing solutions to existing clinical system architecture and configuration to further enable business end users and leadership decision making.
  • Collaborates with Abiomed internal/external partners to integrate data with non-clinical systems (e.g. Electronic Medical Records) and non-clinical data repositories (Constellation).
  • Able to use clear judgment to solve problems and to escalate issues with proposed solutions, as necessary.
  • Contribute to the creation and review of departmental SOPs, Work Instructions, and training materials as necessary.
  • Identifies opportunities for standardization and takes initiative to help improve departmental efficiency.
  • Demonstrates project management skills to manage requests, forecast development time, and communicate progress to the business community.
  • Ability to perform additional responsibilities as requested.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; BS preferred in Computer Sciences, Informatics, Data Science/Analytics, Mathematics, or related technical field. Preference will be given to candidates/individuals with a Master’s degree in said disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical capacity in clinical research1.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, including clinical data management systems and clinical trial management systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI preferred).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Python and other programming languages.
  • Knowledge of JReview, Business Objects and/or other industry reporting tools desired.
  • Experience with Medidata platform applications including RAVE, TSDV, Imaging (MMI), RTSM, TSDV, and CTMS desired.
  • Experience with Veeva Vault electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) desired.
  • Knowledge of GCP and FDA Code of Federal Regulations required.
  • Knowledge of International Regulations desired.
  • Highly advanced computer knowledge and highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of SAS and/or R preferred.
  • Ability to travel ~10%.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
