This is a unique opportunity for someone inspired by WFM core values and is interested in Amazon’s high-growth grocery business to bring their whole self to the role.

Key job responsibilities

We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager who will own the data and integration for WFM data and analytic needs. This high impact role will lead a team to help design and build our north star data infrastructure moving WFM away from our patchwork of legacy solutions. You should be an expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low-cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data lake and end-user facing applications. The role requires someone who loves data, understands enterprise information systems, has a strong business sense, and can lead a team to put these skills into action. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on our modernized design, architecture, and development of data products. You will work with a data engineering team well versed in the legacy solutions and be asked to build a team to deliver on the future vision.

A day in the life

You will work with other leaders to define and execute the data engineering strategy for WFM focusing on both driving business value and achieving operational excellence.

Lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts working with multiple teams to develop optimal solutions.

Make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, and communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal and external cross-functional teams.

Use your excellent business and communication skills to work with business owners, to define key business questions, develop requirements, and to build data sets that answer those questions.

Leverage your experience to grow, lead, mentor, and inspire a team of excellent data engineers.

Have a company-wide view of the Data Engineering and consistently invent and simplify “hands off the wheel” solutions at scale. Write and contribute to weekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews, 1 and 6-pagers, and operational plan (Op) documents.

We enable sophisticated, fact-based decision making across WFM by delivering constantly evolving technology and analytic capabilities. Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, take on multiple roles, and work in a highly collaborative environment. This team will tackle challenging and novel situations every day and will have the opportunity to redefine the grocery industry while working with different teams across WFM and Amazon. You will be able to contribute and enjoy the wonderful blend of WFM and Amazon Tech Culture. You will be based out of Bengaluru, IN, one of the best places to live and work. Most importantly, you’ll be contributing to WFM’s Higher Purpose of Nourishing People and the Planet!

Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems.
