- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience as an analyst or engineer in the Data/BI space with hands-on analytics work experience and proven quantitative orientation
- Experience in data visualization using Tableau, QuickSight, or similar tools
- Advanced skills in SQL, ETL, Data Warehousing and Databases
- Proficient with using scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R etc.) and data manipulation/analysis libraries for analyzing and modeling data
- Ability to distill complex customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives and performing the analysis to drive insights
- Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions
- Fluency with statistical analytics and programming languages such as R, Python, Weka, etc.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

The Analytics & Data Management team (ADM) is looking for an exceptional Business Intelligence Engineer who is passionate about data and the insights that large amounts of data can provide, who thinks/acts globally, and who has the ability to contribute to major novel innovations in the industry. The role will focus on working with a team of Data Engineers, Business and tech-savvy professionals to lay down scalable data architecture to ingest large amounts of structured and unstructured datasets and work with stakeholders to drive business decisions based on these datasets.
The ideal candidate will possess both a BI background and a strong business acumen that enables him/her to think strategically and add value to the customer experience. He/She will experience a wide range of problem solving situations, requiring extensive use of data collection and analysis techniques such as data mining and machine learning.
The successful candidate will work with multiple global site leaders, Business Analysts, Software Developers, Database Engineers, Product Management in addition to stakeholders in sales, finance, marketing and service teams to create a coherent customer view. They will:
- Partner with analysts across teams such as product management, operations, sales, finance, marketing and engineering to build and verify hypothesis to improve the business performance
- Manage weekly business reports via dashboards, and paper daily, weekly, and monthly performance reporting by formulating KPIs
- Design, build, and maintain automated reporting, dashboards, and ongoing analysis to enable data driven decisions across our team and with partner teams
- Identify, develop, manage, and execute queries across multiple data sets to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations
- Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy trends that impact the business
- Collaborate with product, technical, and operational leaders to gather data and metrics requirements
- Retrieve and analyze data using a broad set of Amazon’s data technologies and resources, knowing how, when, and what to use
- Write high-quality SQL/Python code to retrieve and analyze data from databases (e.g. Redshift, EMR, Athena, etc.)
- Manage and execute entire projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations
- Scope, build and own technical data warehouse processes to help the business scale
- Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, or an equivalent quantitative field
- 5+ years of industry experience working as a BIE or related specialty
- Experience in Cloud Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, EMR, etc.
- Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling
- Experience writing newsletters on results and business impact of analytical deep dives to senior leadership
- Experience working in a remote setting
