Position Title: Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst Intern

The Business Intelligence Department is offering an internship for 20 hours per week in the summer (start dates TBD May-August).

The Team

The Business Intelligence team provides business-critical reporting tools and insights using data and analytics, ensures cross-functional alignment of goals, and supports our internal business partners with the execution of company objectives and key results (OKRs) related to customer effort, retention, and operational efficiency.

This Position

As a Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst Intern you will gain an understanding of our fast-changing business and use that understanding to develop reporting tools and drive measurable insights into the hands of key organizational stakeholders with the objective being improved customer, employee, and enterprise outcomes.

This role will be supported by a mentor who will share business knowledge and help provide direction and assistance, though the candidate will be encouraged to be self-sufficient and allow data and industry best practices to inform their decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with data and business stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements, plan and execute projects, and communicate status, risks, and issues.
  • Build efficient and insightful BI solutions to drive key customer and organizational outcomes
  • Utilize SQL, Python, dbt, or other tools to automate data ingestion, monitoring, and manual tasks
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines including solutions for data collection, monitoring, and usage within dashboards
  • Collaborate with the team to validate, optimize, and re-engineer code to be modular, efficient, and scalable
  • Oversee reporting construction with an eye for organization, documentation, and data knowledge
  • Practice efficient querying, data collection, and data engineering best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education track in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics/Statistics, or closely related studies
  • Experience with relational database systems and strong SQL skills
  • Experience with data visualization/storytelling
  • Tableau experience required; Analyst badge preferred
  • Demonstrated data problem-solving skills; ability to identify issues and construct a solution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • Experience with dbt could be the deciding factor
  • Experience in Agile delivery principles and tools (Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, Github, etc.)
  • Experience with Python – specifically, pandas and NumPy libraries
  • Experience with cloud database technologies, specifically Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Azure SQL, AWS
  • Salesforce Service/Sales Cloud experience
