Position Summary
ASP is looking for a Data Engineer who will be responsible for the design, development and deployment of the enterprise data platform that will be the foundation for data driven transformation of various business functions. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on specialist who has strong analytical skills, can create data models, ETL/data pipelines and the ability to combine data from different sources.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop the Data Warehousing Platform, consisting of an Operational Data Store (ODS), a Data Warehouse, and many subject-oriented Data Marts.
Create data models in the form of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) to design tables, indexes, and table relationships including modeling, developing, technical documentation, data diagrams and data dictionaries
Deploy data models to maintain development, test, and production environments
Develop data integration solutions to process data into, out of, and within the Data Warehousing Platform. Including ETL/building data pipelines and incorporating raw data from multiple sources
Create and tune SQL statements
Track data quality, availability, security against Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Collaborate with the Analytical team to prototype and prove the viability of data solutions
Provide expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and practices, evaluate best applicable solutions for different use cases
Participate in the creation, modification, and execution of operational and strategic plans
Define problem areas and evaluate, recommend, and implement alternative solutions to complex issues and problems
Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
Update storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the company
Years of Related Experience:
5+ years’ experience in data engineering and development
Medical Device industry experience is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications/Licenses, and Affiliations:
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is required
Strong experience with ETL and database processes and technologies
Strong SQL experience with an understanding of database structures
Experience with database languages and technologies (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL), SQL Server Integration Services, package design, and data analysis
Strong coding skills (sql/python/java)
Experience with Relational or Multidimensional Data Base Management Systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server and DB2) in one or more computing environments (e.g., Windows, Unix, Oracle)
Data administration and management functions (collection, cleaning, analysis, distribution, etc.)
Thorough understanding of the relational database model and solid theoretical knowledge of relational database techniques
Advanced knowledge of modern database and information system technologies
