The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Sr. Data Scientistto support our government customer located at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.
Kāpili maintains a repository of over 20,000 films, two million photographs, and 60 million pages of documents dating back to The Manhattan Project. Kāpili Services is charged with making the repository digitally accessible to DTRA deterrent mission researchers in a way that provides knowledge and meaning through the use of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data science to return relevant search results to user queries.
The role of the Data Scientist is to collaborate with a team of software developers, systems users (researchers), system administrators, and librarians to develop and implement data structures, ontologies, and user interfaces resulting in ehanced utility of the repository for researchers. The Data Scientist will assist in the design of a feedback loop that offers ways to personalize, optimize, improve, and/or automate services, which use the DTRIAC archives, and ingest behavioral data to improve algorithms and generate knowledge.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement methods for, and configurations of the Data Lake to support navigation, search, insertion, or extraction of information or files by the government or other performers.
Implement, configure, and perform functional testing of applications.
Leverage the collection, capabilities, and team to perform targeted analyses and studies and to provide dedicated support to missions and end users.
Develop data models for the repository/Data Lake to support machine learning/articifical intelligence algorithms and semantic search utilizing natural language processing.
Collaborate with developers and administrators on implementing, and refining Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology for automated extraction and cataloguging of metadata from information sources.
Collaborate with a team of software developers, systems users (researchers), system administrators, and librarians to develop an intuitive user interface for researchers (users).
Create documentation or training materials for Project Products.
Support integration or hosting of capabilities or products on government IT systems.
Hold and participate in Gate Reviews.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years relevant experience working on AI/ML/data science products
- Understanding of complex workflows
- Security+ Certification or equivalent required (Can be obtained on the job)
- Strong knowledge of Human Factors and user interface design processes and methodology
- Strong Programming Skills in SAS, R, and Python required.
- Strong knowledge of Apache Hadoop required.
- Experience in applying TensorFlow or other Machine Learning tool suites to projects/applications is a major plus.
