As a Staff Data Engineer on the Data Analytics and Reporting Team, you will play a hands-on role in the development of the data pipelines, transforming data, and creating dashboards for visualization. The goal of the Data Team is to make data accessible, scalable, and actionable. The ideal candidate possesses a strong aptitude for data, enjoys problem-solving in ambiguous environments, effectively manages prioritization of complex tasks, and takes ownership of solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to define internal and external metrics & system requirements.
  • Working with product owners to define and help architect key data sources.
  • Create data models, reports & analyses to support business needs and convert raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports.
  • Translate team’s needs into data solutions using data processing software & visualization tools such as Power BI and Grafana.
  • Develop advanced data queries combining information from disparate sources with complex join criteria.
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines.
  • Review, improve and optimize existing KQL/SQL queries, Power BI dashboards, and Azure Data Factory procedures while implementing best practices for data extraction and storage.
  • Work on the implementation of technology needed to facilitate the transfer of data and integrations with internal and third-party applications.
  • Propose, define, review and test data warehouse modifications to improve report design efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience working with data bases, data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT, and data queries (SQL, KQL, or similar). (7+ years preferred)
  • Experience in requirements analysis, design, and prototyping.
  • Experience owning applications and solutions to business-critical data challenges.
  • Hands-on experience in extracting data from various data sources and building data models (Star Schema/Snowflake).
  • Experience working with reporting & analytics tools.
  • Experience in the architecture and development of scale-able production data analytics, reporting, and or enterprise data solutions.
  • Experience resolving complex issues creatively and efficiently.
  • A strong working knowledge of KQL, SQL, and or other query languages.
  • A strong working knowledge of transactional and stateful databases.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in transferring data between cross-platform applications.
  • Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable software, with supporting documentation, in Python (or sufficiently similar).
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills, and strong organizational & planning skills.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau (3+ years preferred)
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (experience with Azure is a plus).
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field is preferred. M.S. is a plus.
  • Experience with machine learning and or artificial intelligence is a plus.
