Job Description
During the 12-week internship, the intern will help genomics team to develop automatic genome analytical pipelines and workflows (e.g single cell RNAseq), including data QC, visualization, and storage. This project will provide great benefits for cross-functional teams to explore data from single cell RNAseq and other next generation sequencing (NGS) related projects. The intern will learn the basics of NGS technologies and apply bioinformatic tools to streamline data analysis. At the end of the internship program, the intern will give a presentation summarizing work to an audience with a broad scientific background across Allogene teams.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Work with single cell RNAseq data and Oxford Nanopore sequencing data
- Establish automatic single cell analysis pipeline using existing bioinformatic tools (e.g. Seurat, Monocle, GSEA)
- NGS data alignment, QC, and functional annotation
- Scientific literature review
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements & Experience
- Bachelor’s or above (completed or ongoing) in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, or related field required (or relevant experience)
- Proficiency in using Linux command line, R, or Python is required
- Familiarity with bioinformatic analysis
- Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
