The Opportunity
The Operational Risk Sr. Analyst will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of the Enterprise Issue Management Program. The candidate will document program procedures, conduct analytics and reporting on program results, and monitor adherence to the Issue Management Policy and Standard as well as the Operational Risk Management Framework. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills and be capable of collaborating with Independent Risk Management, Business Lines and Issue Sources to assist in sound risk management practices.
The Work Itself
- Execute and manage Issue Management processes and routines to drive ongoing oversight and enforcement of standards across the enterprise to enable a strong risk management culture
- Assist in training to all parties, as required, in support of compliance with the Enterprise Issue Management Policy and Standard, including full integration with other operational risk components including Operational Loss Events, Scenario Analysis, Risk Control Self-Assessment, Risk Appetite, and Monitoring and Testing
- Perform monthly routines including program adherence and data quality checks to support monitoring of the Enterprise Issue Management program
- Effective collaboration and diligent follow up with Business Lines and Independent Risk Management teams (including Issue Sources) to ensure timely and accurate execution of the Issue Management program, including the escalation of exceptions
- Lead the development of procedural and process documentation and facilitate ongoing updates as required
- Ensure all owned processes, standards, and procedures are kept current, consistent with documentation, reviewed periodically for compliance and assessed against the business need and risk appetite framework
- Analyze data to draw meaningful conclusions and communicate key findings to appropriate parties
- Ability to draft executive level presentations to communicate conclusions and recommendations to all levels of management.
- Identify processes for improvements and automation opportunities
- Conduct ad-hoc analytics and manage various other independent projects
The Skills You Bring
- 3+ years’ relevant experience in financial services in Operational Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Audit
- BA/BS from an accredited university preferred (Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance major is preferred)
- Ability to work in teams, adapt to change, troubleshoot, analyze issues and determine root cause are critical skill
- Working knowledge of risk management components (e.g., policy/procedures, governance, reporting, risk control self-assessments, issue management) in a regulated environment
- Technical and analytical expertise to support development of reporting – MS suite (advanced Excel and PowerPoint abilities required), Archer and/or Open Page
- Must be self-motivated, willing to take on initiative, and capable of working independently
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with multiple levels of management
- Strong analytical, documentation, project management and organization skills including attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities and follow through on commitments
