Job Location: Chicago, IL
The Business Analyst 2 performs business analyst functions, using Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies. Identifies and documents project scope; collects and documents business needs and requirements, reports and visualizations specifications; assists with development of uses cases and test cases; and coordinates testing and other quality assurance activities to validate that business needs and requirements have been met. The Business Analyst 2 reports to the Sr. Director.
Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Project Scope
- Collaborates with project sponsors and the project manager to determine and document project scope and vision.
Needs and Requirements
- Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders/end users.
- Conducts interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
- Translates conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.
Documentation
- Using standard templates, documents and obtains approval for:
- business requirements and
- reports and visualizations specifications.
- Assists with the development of user stories, use cases and test cases.
- Prepares other project artifacts as appropriate.
Process Diagrams
- Creates process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
Quality Assurance
- Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforces and redefines as necessary.
- Participates in QA of software or other project solutions to ensure the features and functions have been enabled and developed to meet business needs and requirements.
As part of the validation of needs and requirements, the BA:
- Establishes the testing approach and coordinates and leads UAT testing with appropriate SMEs & stakeholders.
- Monitors and tracks any issues to resolution.
Qualifications
- College diploma or university degree e.g. in the field of business administration, finance or information systems
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- At least three years Business Analysis work experience
