Job summary
Do you have a passion for diving deep to build new products that will drive critical business decisions and operations at scale? Are you passionate about Amazon-scale big data, machine learning and customer segmentation? If yes, the Amazon OCCAM (Omni-Channel Customer Analytics and Modeling) team is looking for somebody with your enthusiasm and skills.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced data engineer who is curious, driven, and passionate about helping generate rules-based and machine learning insights. This role will require leading data acquisition and processing to help build innovative machine learning products to identify gaps in our customer experience and services. As a trusted engineering leader, you will take on challenging data management, processing and intelligence generation problems. You will need to develop and invent elegant mechanisms and cutting-edge infrastructure processing capabilities that drive big data algorithms.

About the team
We are a Science, Analytics and Engineering team working on projects to predict and understand human behavior so Amazon leaders can identify gaps in the products and services we offer. We are a diverse team, distributed across North America, with a variety of backgrounds, interests and expertise.Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or comparable industry experience
  • Experience writing and optimizing advanced-SQL for large datasets in columnar databases
  • Experience with at least one Object Oriented language (e.g. Java, Python, Ruby)
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Pig, Spark, etc.
  • Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift and LambdaPreferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative/technical field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering
  • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
  • Experience with AWS services including EMR, Glue and MWAA
  • Understanding of Machine Learning model creation and training
  • Outstanding speaking, writing, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to persuade, inspire, and motivate others
  • Highly analytical with advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in working with business customers to drive requirements gathering and analysis
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies like Agile
