Job summary
Amazon is seeking a Data Engineer to provide data engineering services and solutions to enable programs to scale with Amazon’s growth and complexity. This is a highly visible opportunity to provide custom-build solutions and services that will increase the productivity of Amazon’s analytical capability to scale through data.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in sourcing semi-structured and complex data types and normalizing them into a consumable data models that are accessible for other users. Our team maintains an infrastructure that supports changing data needs. This requires data engineering problem solving to build high quality, reliable, accurate, consistent, and architecturally sound data solutions that are aligned with our business objectives.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and deliver big data solutions providing access to large datasets
- Develop the end-to-end automation of data pipelines, making datasets readily-consumable by visualization tools, ML models and notification systems.
- Act as the subject matter expert for best practices in the data engineering space with emphasis in security and infrastructure analysis.
- Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions, and data engineering strategy
- Experience with the following technologies: AWS services, including Redshift, RDS, Lambda, EMR, Glue.
- Industry experience as a Senior/Lead Data Engineer or related specialty with a track record of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large data sets
- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing datasets from multiple sources
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentor other engineers for the best practices on the data engineering space.
The base pay range for this position starts at $154,600.00 (yr). Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
