The AWS Insights team is seeking an experienced software engineering manager to join a team working with Machine Learning to help AWS customers control unexpected spend. Our product has high visibility and is an essential resource for AWS customers of all sizes.
Providing a scalable platform to support AWS’ expanding business is a complex architectural challenge, and accurate cost and usage information is a critical piece. Enterprise-level customers make large dollar-value decisions based on the timeliness, accuracy, and detail of the data provided by our products.
You will lead a team taking on architectural challenges in processing billions of usage records and providing intelligent products to help customers understand and control their costs. You will be empowered to think big, invent on behalf of our customers, make judgment calls and find elegant solutions to hard problems. The AWS Insights & Optimizations team is changing fast and this is a dynamic role where you will both learn and grow while you contribute to our success.
Key job responsibilities
- Coach and support a team of software developers with a wide mix of backgrounds and strengths
- Hire and grow your team, and participate in interviews for other teams in the organization
- Work with extraordinary teams delivering demanding projects.
- Guide engineers as they decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
- Understand system interdependencies and limitations.
- Share your knowledge of the most effective performance, scalability, architecture, and engineering patterns and methods.
A day in the life

· Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields
· Experience in working backwards from the customer and delivering innovative and simple solutions
· You have a clear understanding of cloud computing services and deployment architecture
· Excellent technical, problem-solving and partnering skills
· Creative leader with superior analytical abilities
· Cross-team coordination skills
· Proven ability to concisely communicate with an executive audience in both written and verbal communications
