โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, MIS, related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
โ€ข 3+ year of relevant work experience in analytics, data engineering, business intelligence or related field.
โ€ข 3+ year of demonstrable ability in data modeling, ETL development, and Data warehousing, or similar skills.
โ€ข 3+ year of demonstrable advanced skills and experience using SQL with large data sets (e.g. Oracle, Redshift).
โ€ข Experience with AWS technologies including Redshift, RDS, S3.
โ€ข 1+ year of programming language experience (e.g., Python, Java).
1+ year experience of communicating analytical outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Job summary
Location: This role open to these locations: Dallas, Seattle, Jersey City & Vancouver. Relocation offered from within the US to any of these locations.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Engineer (DE) with a passion for developing data architecture and tools to support self-service data analytics. You will play a critical role supporting AWS Finance and building solutions to support data needs in one of the world’s largest and most complex data environments. In this role, you will have ownership of end-to-end development of data engineering solutions to complex questions and youโ€™ll play an integral role in strategic decision-making.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to display and develop your skills in the following areas:

  • Design, implement, and support an analytical platform providing ad hoc access to large datasets and computing power
  • Managing AWS resources including EC2, Glue, RDS, Redshift, Lambda, and etc.
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies
  • Build robust and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines using SQL, Python and Spark.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support an analytical platform providing ad hoc access to large datasets and computing power
  • Managing AWS resources including Glue, MWAA, RDS, Redshift, Lambda, and etc.
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies
  • Build robust and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines using SQL, Python and Spark.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers

โ€ข Graduate degree in computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, economics, or other quantitative field.
โ€ข 3+ years prior experience in a Data Engineer role with a technology company or financial institution.
โ€ข Both technically deep and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within the organization.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including engineering, IT, product management, finance, and operations
โ€ข Experience with AWS technologies including EMR, Kinesis.
โ€ข Experience with reporting tools like Tableau, Excel or other BI packages.
โ€ข Familiarity with the DevOps concepts
โ€ข Familiarity with Linux
โ€ข Experience with Hadoop or other map/reduce “big data” systems and services
The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $145,000 โ€“ 308,000 year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location.
