Job summary
Amazon Emerging Planning Solutions is looking for a talented Data Engineer to build innovative solutions for data pipelines by decreasing operational overhead. You will review technical design, develop and enhance data systems and pipelines supporting process optimization in reporting, planning, and controlling activities.
In addition, you should have strong analytical skills and excel in the design, creation, management, and business use of large data sets, combining raw information from different sources. Similarly, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable extract, transform, and load (ETL) jobs to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data, and use it to deliver the data as a service, which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day business decision making. Moreover, you will create automated alarming and dashboards to monitor data integrity. Importantly, you should have very good communication skills and ability to adjust communication to different groups of stakeholders, collaborating with architects, BI engineers, data scientists, business analysts/managers, to evaluate business needs and objectives to set up the best data management environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop infrastructure-as-code software to stand-up large distributed services
- Design fault tolerance and disaster recovery solutions
- Understand and implement security and operational best-practices
- Help build the infrastructure to answer questions with data, using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and recent advances in distributed systems
- Collaborate extensively with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- Be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and willing to develop quick proof of concepts, iterate and improve
- Have an understanding and empathy for business objectives, and continually align your work with those objectives and seek to deliver business value. You listen effectively.

- 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Data Engineer, Business/Financial Analyst or Systems Analyst in a company with large, complex data sources.
- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
- Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, design patterns, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Mindset and analytical skills towards continuous improvement and have an edge to always research on latest technologies
