Job summary

About AWS:
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides companies of all sizes with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud (“cloud computing”). With AWS you can requisition compute power, storage, and many other services – gaining access to a suite of elastic IT infrastructure services as your business demands them. AWS is the leading platform for designing and developing applications for the cloud and is growing rapidly with hundreds of thousands of companies in over 190 countries on the platform.

About you:
You recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation. You write high quality code to retrieve and analyze data as well as analyze and solve business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context. Developing pragmatic analyses and choosing applicable solutions that add value to your business area, you understand data resources and know how, when, and which to use (and which not to use).

By recognizing and using advanced analytical techniques to solve business problems, you develop analyses (whether fully formed or exploratory) for the business’ sake, not for analyses’ sake.

As an increasing number of large enterprises move their critical systems to the cloud, we are in need of high-powered technical leaders to help Amazon’s largest and most strategically important customers navigate the operational challenges of cloud computing.

As a Principal BIE in the team, you will be responsible for setting, raising and auditing the analytical dev standards of the team. You will devise and lead the charter on team’s technical evolution that paves the way for delivering analytics at scale, building transformational insights and predictive models, and driving quantified impact across the org. You will also lead the application of cloud-based AWS services to solve challenging problems around: analytical and data science modeling, reporting visualization and enabling self-service. You will work closely with business stakeholders, Business Intelligence, Data Scientists and Data Engineering Managers in planning, designing, executing and implementing the reporting ecosystem. This role requires excellent technical skills in order to raise the bar on development of analytics, excellent written/verbal communication skills to interact effectively with business leadership, as well as, but not limited to, the ability to understand business context at its depth and translating it into analytical delivery specs. This is not a run-of-the-mill analytics job, you work will play a major role in devising the team’s expansion strategy, technical foundation of our ecosystem and scaling our impact across the org.

Work/Life Balance

Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here, which is why we aren’t focused on how many hours you spend at work or online. Instead, we’re happy to offer a flexible schedule so you can have a more productive and well-balanced life—both in and outside of work.

Mentorship & Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.

Inclusive and Diverse Culture

Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have twelve employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally.
