Job summary
AWS Finance is seeking a highly quantitative, world class Senior Financial Analyst to join the Business Analytics and Insights team. This position will be responsible for driving the development of revenue and customer insights and deep business analytics. This role will work with business, Sales, Service Finance, Accounting and Data/ BI Engineering teams across AWS to dive deep and develop a crisp understanding of all AWS revenue components, trends, telemetry, customer analytics, and other drivers impacting revenue. This person will be a key contributor to insights provided to executive leadership and driving BI projects to automate and support revenue analytics. The ideal candidate should know and love working with business intelligence tools, be analytical and creative, and be comfortable working in a fast paced, ambiguous environment. The candidate should be passionate about working with data and using their findings to guide the broader organization. This is a critical role with high visibility to senior leadership, and is a great opportunity for those willing to roll up their sleeves to achieve results.
Key job responsibilities
- Driving key revenue and customer analytics, variance analyses, and modeling to provide insights to the finance team and executive leadership.
- Deep diving and interacting with stakeholders across multiple teams in business, finance, accounting, and business intelligence to understand key business drivers.
- Supporting analytics requests across AWS business and finance teams.
- Written documentation/communication of current revenue drivers and shared perspective on expectations in coming months.
- Work closely with Analytics and Insights Business Intelligence team to build tools and mechanisms that help internal stakeholders self-serve insights.
- Fostering constructive communication across multiple teams to drive standardization and information socialization.
- MBA preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, SQL, and other analytical or BI tools.
- Advanced analytical skills; an ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment; work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations.
- Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase).
- Understanding of Accounting standards.
- An ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload.
- Knowledge of computing industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills — including written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving.
- Experience in a technology company or high-tech environment.
