AWS Support is a one-on-one, fast-response support channel that is staffed 24x7x365 with experienced and technical support engineers. Unlike most support organizations, AWS Support is a self-standing business with revenue and P&L responsibility and one of the fastest growing businesses within AWS.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding and mining a large amount of data, building metrics, finding answers and creating dependable, repeatable solutions. The team will look to you for advice on analytical and business issues facing them. You should be a self-starter who knows BI tools and enjoys working with data, and who thrives on implementing creative approaches and dealing with the intricate complexity of large data sets. Furthermore, this role demands an insistence on the very highest standards of data integrity, where the BI Engineer will be the custodian of the ‘Single Version of the Truth’ of all Capacity Planning and Forecasting data sources within AWS Support.

You will work in lock-step with multiple business teams, AWS Support Ops, Finance and Leadership. You will:

  • Interface with internal customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete BI solutions;
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL (Redshift) and ability to use a programming and/or scripting language to process data for modeling;
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation;
  • Partner with business and technical teams to consult, develop and implement KPI’s, automated reporting/process solutions, ad-hoc analyses, and data infrastructure improvements to meet business needs;
  • Be expert and hands on with SQL to build analyses and contribute to the better understanding of the business;
  • Promote process improvement and standardization of processes across all operational sites in the network.
  • Work independently in an ambiguous environment, delivering quick wins, and developing strategic improvements.

· Master’s degree in Engineering or Math/Statistics/Finance or related discipline. · Advanced knowledge of BI tools (Tableau & Power BI), MySQL, Linux/UNIX

  • Proven experience leading the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions in complex, ambiguous or poorly defined problem spaces

· Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data. · Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.

· Experience with statistical analysis and R. · Demonstrated ability to set up processes to scale up operations in a fast paced organization.

  • Experience data modeling and transformation of large-scale data sources using Hadoop, Spark, Hive, EMR, or other Big Data technologies.
  • Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them (verbal/written) to the stakeholders and senior management as required.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders in a global setup with stakeholders present across the globe.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired and ambiguity is the norm

The pay range for this position is $106,200- $160,000/yr. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
