Based on education, experience and interview, this job opportunity will be filled commensurate at either of these job titles in the Data Scientist job family:

Data Scientist (intermediate) = bachelor’s degree + three (3) years of experience
Data Scientist Associate = entry-level with bachelor’s degree

Position Summary
This position will utilize analytical tools and data management skills to develop automated audit routines for the assessment and mitigation of organizational risk and planning of specific audit projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Expand the existing data analytics inventory by working with the existing audit team to create a pipeline of data analytics that can be built in the future to help ASD scope projects more intelligently, execute more efficient and effective audit testing by looking at total populations of data or stratified data sets, and improve the annual audit planning process.
• Acquire business knowledge across the organization and utilize knowledge to assist in development of meaningful data analytics.
• Employ automated data analysis techniques to assess controls, as well as identify potential exceptions and trends, which will allow for a highly objective and timely evaluation of risk.
• Critical tasks related to this position and utilization of the Tableau data analytic tool are: 1) getting access to data sets, 2) analyzing data sets to determine if additional data translation is required, 3) data validation over one or more data sets, 4) define requirements for data analytic(s), 5) build data analytic(s), and 6) test data analytic(s) to ensure it works as designed.
• Apply data visualization tools to large data sets to enhance data understanding. Identify, analyze, and interpret trend or patterns in complex data sets.
• Provide meaningful, concise reporting of analytic results.
• Identify needs of training and provide data analytics related training to auditors as needed.

Minimum Requirements for Data Scientist Associate (grade 6):

• 
  Education: Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, applied statistics, data mining, data science, computer science or a related quantitative discipline.
• 
  Experience: entry-level experience in data analytics and the following:
  • Knowledge of programming languages, specifically, SQL.
  • Experience working with a variety of reporting and visualization tools, including Tableau, QMF, and/or IBM Cognos.
  • Experience solving business-related problems using data-driven techniques.
  • Analytical with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Audit background including certifications such as CISA, CIA, CPA is a plus.

Minimum Requirements for Data Scientist (grade 7)

• 
  Education: Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, applied statistics, data mining, data science, computer science or a related quantitative discipline.
• 
  Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in data analytics and the following:
  • A solid knowledge of programming languages, specifically, SQL.
  • Experience working with a variety of reporting and visualization tools, including Tableau, QMF, and/or IBM Cognos.
  • Experience solving business-related problems using data-driven techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Audit background including certifications such as CISA, CIA, CPA is a plus.
