International Operational Excellence is a newly expanded organization, responsible for supporting our international Issuing and our international Acquiring businesses across 27+ markets in ensuring a robust first line of defence.

Our organization helps our international businesses manage risk, respond to new regulation, and develop new products whilst nurturing effective partnerships across multiple key stakeholders. The organisation also leads an enterprise-wide International Financial Crimes Transformation program and is building an international first line privacy function designed to strengthen our enterprise-wide controls around privacy and information protection.

Financial crime risk management is a critical mission for American Express. The Financial Crime Risk management teamโ€™s core principles is to build robust controls and governance by applying a risk-based approach, building adaptable and scalable enterprise level capabilities, automate processes, provide a high-quality customer experience, and foster coordination across 1st and 2nd line of defence.

Within Financial crime risk management, Team is looking to recruit an Assistant Manager to support the India Task Force team, including delivering on Know your Customer (KYC) activities and other AML obligations.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right talent with a passion in process and operations management to join our team.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Manager in the delivery of initiatives with near term focus on KYC related processes at onboarding and refresh
  • Provide support specifically AML/KYC by ensuring verification of PII data
  • Ensure strong daily operations, controls, and processes in alignment with the program objectives
  • Prepare dashboards, MISโ€™s to review performance for the team
  • Drive productivity and maintain quality of processed cases
  • Conduct regular audit and quality checks on the cases processed
  • Manage proprietary and outsourced resources and ensure adherence to compliance
  • Lead, coach and manage team members
  • Support preparation of meetings, documentation, meeting minutes and take away items
  • Drive colleague engagement and motivation by timely and effective communication
  • Work with internal project teams as required to follow up on projects key deliveries & status updates

Key Skills Required:

  • Ability to manage a proprietary and outsourced team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set with attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Fast learner, able to understand operational processes & capabilities
  • Results orientated (Setting Priorities, Taking Accountability)
  • Self-motivated, business and customer focused with excellent relationship skills
  • Ability to build relationships and partner with others to drive results
  • Experience working in projects preferred, but not essential
  • Manage third party resources with focus on information security and related aspects
  • Relevant experience as a direct people leader in an operating environment will be an advantage
