The Australia Data tribe sits within our Australia Retail & Commercial division and our mission is to combine business & technology capabilities to enable analytics, reporting & data asset development by users across ANZ’s Australia Retail & Commercial division.
As a Data Engineer in the Australia Data tribe you will be responsible for designing and creating data processing solutions that enable value from analytic models to drive rapid decision making.
A key element of this is driving the data engineering agenda within the Tribe, ensuring delivery of best practice end-to-end data engineering respecting ANZ architecture standards. You will challenge inefficient engineering practise in ANZ and influence change in your field to drive better business outcomes. To this end, in the role you will implement smart and relevant data engineering to drive E2E application delivery and support the uplift of data engineering capability in Tribe, while linking in to the wider Enterprise Analytics roadmap
What will your day look like
Engineer efficient, reliable and scalable data pipelines
Working in a cross skilled squad with people both from business and technology to build intuitive data products
Work on diverse data technologies such as Spark, Trino and Airflow

What will you bring?
MS or BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and equivalent practical experience in Data Engineering
10+ years experience with strong background in at least one of the following: distributed data processing, software engineering of data services, or data modelling.
Proficient in at least one major programming language (eg. Python, Scala, Java)
Comfortable with complex SQL
Proficient in engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Spark, Trino, Airflow) on large scale data sets
Proficient with Jupyter Notebook or similar.
Conceptually familiar with cloud resources (S3, Kubernetes)
Extensive experience working within cross-functional, agile or continuous delivery teams
Experience with migration to Cloud Technologies will be an added advantage.
