Apple’s AI/ML residency is a year-long program inviting experts in various fields to apply their own domain expertise to innovate and build revolutionary machine learning and AI-based products and experiences. As AI-based solutions spread across disciplines, the need for domain experts to understand machine learning and apply their expertise in ML setting grows. Residents will have the opportunity to attend machine learning and AI courses, learn from an Apple mentor closely involved in their program, collaborate with fellow residents, gain hands-on experience working on high-impact projects, publish in premier academic conferences, and partner with Apple teams across hardware, software, and services.
Key Qualifications
- Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Objective-C, C++, Swift, and/or R. Candidates should have experience completing a moderate-sized software project
- Demonstrated ability to connect and collaborate with others
- Ideal candidates will also have academic, research, or industry experience in one of the following: natural language processing, data mining, HCI/design, and computer vision. Thesis, dissertation, capstone project, internship, co-op, and/or industry experience in these fields all qualify
Description
Apple’s Knowledge Platform team is building the next-generation of ML and NLP solutions to help power features that are redefining how hundreds of millions of people use their computers and mobile devices to search and find what they are looking for, including Siri and Spotlight. As part of this group, you’ll work with one of the most exciting high performance computing environments, with petabytes of data, millions of queries per second, and have an opportunity to imagine and build technology that delight our customers every single day. You’ll work closely with outstanding AI researchers and software engineers in an exciting and interactive workplace. As a member of the team, you will work on some of the most ambitious technical problems, develop new ML solutions that will impact future Apple products, and collaborate with the best product teams to integrate your ideas into products.
Education & Experience
Graduate degree in a STEM field or equivalent industry experience in software engineering
