The Apple Data Center Control Systems Engineer supports various facilities focused applications, devices, processes, and systems managed and/or used by the Datacenter Operations (DCO) located in Apple’s Critical Data Center locations. These technologies support mission critical site functionality such as building automation, power monitoring, sustainability, environmental systems, and life safety systems as required to managing the Apple worldwide datacenter operations. Key Qualifications
- Ability to analyze metrics and articulate data trends both visually and verbally.
- Ability to assess current processes/procedures and make recommendations for efficiency.
- Proven understanding of hyper scale electrical and mechanical systems and NFPA70E, IEEE and OSHA Regulations that pertain to data centers.
- 5 + years of relevant work experience, including industry experience in data center operations, Engineering, Commissioning or other related complex projects.
- Skilled in reading construction drawings for all fields (electrical, mechanical, plumbing).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex technical operations environments, communicate issues and provide solutions to all levels of the organization.
- Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years of data center experience.
- 3+ years of Johnson Controls Metasys BMS experience.
- Proven experience with mission critical infrastructure systems including Buildings and Advance BMS or EPMS systems.
Description
The Data Center Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and managing solutions for Controls and translating enterprise IT and InfoSec requirements for building technologies, leading the implementation of building technologies solutions and enabling/supporting the DCO Facilities teams with respect to these technologies and the day to day operations. This position is responsible for managing the outstanding building technology assets that support critical data center facilities. Systems include but are not limited to Energy and Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS). This individual will interact with both Facilities and Data Center design teams to define/certify solutions to meet business needs and ensure they are managed to the highest standards. This requirement covers all alert management systems in the datacenter. This position also supports the technology management of power generation and power distribution systems. Drive the creation of policies and procedures to increase work efficiencies, safety, and operations. Develop and manage processes and programs to ensure the health of Control systems and facility network within the data center. This role will be accountable to ensure site integrity and systems stability through the enforcement of corporate standards, processes and disciplines, accountable to maintain a 24×7 Data Center Support model. Assist with design and implementation of projects as assigned. Collaborate with teams outside of Facilities and provide keen insights into systems design and operations related to area of expertise.
