Key Qualifications
- Experience with some combination of MapReduce, Hadoop, Spark, Java, Scala, Python, R, Tensorflow, CUDA.
- Strong knowledge of text mining, Big Data, NLP, and language models.
- Experience with large distributed systems and performance tuning.
- Ability to handle high workload and multiple responsibilities.
- Exceptional written & oral communication skills.
- Experience working with large text corpora preferred.
- Familiarity with the book industry and/or passion for books a plus
Description
In this role, you will research, design, and develop machine learning models for Apple Books recommendations. Your work will involve proposing, prototyping, and evaluating new algorithms and algorithmic improvements. You will utilize Deep Learning, Text Mining, NLP, and more. Youโll adapt machine learning algorithms to large-scale data and assist in conducting human judgment and A/B experiments. Youโll derive insights from exploration and experimentation and convert those insights into innovative new features and feature improvements. You will work with other research scientists and with the engineering team to develop & deploy new models. Youโll analyze model performance and implement optimizations. You will actively contribute to the improvement of personalization and recommendations in the Apple Books Store. Youโll stay current with the latest literature in the field, and share your knowledge with colleagues, both internally and externally, through participation in conferences and publications. You will operate at the intersections of basic and applied research, pushing innovation and pursuing new knowledge while applying state of the art methods to address already-defined problems.
Education & Experience
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computational linguistics, or related technical field. 3+ years of relevant experience.
