POSITION SUMMARY

Thea Data Collection & Visualization Analyst is a key member of the Apprise Health Insights Data & Analytics team. Apprise Health Insights is the data and analytics subsidiary of the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS). The position is responsible for supporting existing Apprise products/services development, operations, and communications with external and internal customers.

 

The position carries out many of Apprise products/services as part of daily operational activities. Information Network for Oregon Hospitals (INFOH) and DATABANK (our data collection systems), Dimensions (our analysis tool), Oregon Capacity System (OCS – our real-time, statewide hospital capacity dashboard) are a few of Apprise’ products/services.

 

The job duties draw on a variety of versatile skills, which may include assisting hospitals with timely submission of data, drafting analyses/reports and findings, responding to technical questions about our products and how to use them, educating and training customers, proactively resolving support issues, managing customer relation management (CRM) databases for accurate information and business workflows, and enhancing the customer experience with Apprise products/services.

 

The job requires a strong work ethic, an intense desire to help Apprise customers, quick learning capabilities, and s strong commitment to the team to get the job done. The position performs a lot of tasks independently outside of team projects.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the collection and reporting functions associated with Apprise hospital data collection programs Working closely with external vendors to develop and manages the systems necessary to ensure timely, accurate, and complete submission of data by member hospital employees (“data coordinators”).
  • Developing and maintaining necessary training programs for the initial training of data coordinators as needed, and when hospital staff changes.
  • Developing and providing ongoing information and communications to keep data coordinators current on reporting requirements, changes in processes and procedures, and platform modifications.
  • Providing ongoing direct technical assistance to data coordinators to ensure accurate and timely submission of data.
  • Working closely with other team members to perform testing, check, and validation of Apprise data, and deliver data files to the federal and state partners, hospital customers, and affiliated third-party intermediaries.
  • Developing and writing current/new reports and analytics
  • Responding to data requests from member hospitals.
  • Participating in other projects as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate customer contacts Seeking out and developing new processes to create efficiencies in our data collection programs

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Management Information Systems, or technology-related field
  • 3+ years of business, data and reporting experience in a production/ health care environment
  • Technical proficiency with PC hardware, standard software, and specialized applications, like Tableau, Alteryx, R, or SQL
  • Knowledge and experience with Outlook Dynamics or other customer relationship management (CRM) software a plus.
  • Strong work ethics, self-learner and motivated to help customers and provide innovative solutions
  • Work well and collaboratively with team members
  • Self-managed and can operate with minimum guidance from supervisor
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to explain technical situations, present information, and provide training to end users in an informative, non-technical manner. Have a customer-service attitude.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters in a professional manner, familiar with HIPAA data environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with partners, staff, and all external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple complex projects simultaneously and maintain flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally in English using a phone, personal interaction, and computer.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move around the work area; able to sit for long periods; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computer, calculator, computer and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. 
  • Mental Demands: the employee must be able to follow directions, to get along with others, and handle stress.
  • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computer.
  • Able to travel via car and airplane.
