Job Summary
Principal Data Engineers are recognized experts in multiple technology domains relevant to Associated Bank, and represent the senior technical leadership within their organization. They are responsible for driving the direction of their part of the organization, assisting management and other senior technical leaders create strategic road maps, and driving priorities to meet various objectives. The Principal Data Engineer spends most of the time not writing code but improving processes, mentoring new engineers, oversight, and interfacing. The Principle Data Engineer, therefore, serves both as a role-model and a mentor to every single member of the technical team. Principal Data Engineer possesses a unique combination of unparalleled dedication to the craft and a fervent desire to progress.
Job Accountabilities
- Facilitates cross-functional, cross-digital product line communications and analysis to provide architectural direction over business strategies and problems.
- Participates in high level Product development efforts/evaluation to ensure they align with long-term technology strategy.
- Manage and help oversee all phases of the Software Development Life cycle, including planning, design, and development.
- Guide solution vision and strategy by providing a break down of complex projects, applications and systems.
- Motivates colleagues and fosters collaboration about the overall IT direction and vision.
- Provides ad-hoc technical guidance to the digital product teams. Consults on all technical and design activities.
- Analyze technology industry and market trends and determine potential impact upon the engineering practice.
- Will help with recruitment services to help connect with and assess new talent.
- Recommends redesign, replacement or redevelopment of applications.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related fields Required
Experience
- 7-10 years Information Technology experience. Demonstrated experience architect business & technology solutions to business problems involving one or more business areas with particular experience in the finance & banking industry. Required
- 10-12 years Information Technology experience in the multiple IT disciplines with strong emphasis in solution development. Prefer a number of years to have been in the financial services industry. Preferred
