Job Description
JOB TITLE:
Power BI Developer
SUMMARY:
The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing and developing BI reporting and dashboards that enable the organization to not only understand the current state of the business, but also to analyze and interpret data efficiently, spot trends and patterns, and obtain actionable insights to make better business decisions. The Power BI Developer constructs these BI reports and dashboards to be intuitive, choosing from a wide array of interactive visualizations that sits on top of a data model they have formed using various business datasets – some that exist and others that they may need to develop.
OBJECTIVES:
- Works directly with business users, team members, and IT leadership using an Agile methodology to develop and deliver BI reporting solutions to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to put ideas and requests into actionable BI results
- Fosters a continuous improvement culture to advance all areas of the business and IT
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Adept in Power BI development and administration including publishing, and scheduling Power BI reports to the online Power BI Service
- Excellent analytical thinking skills in converting data into informative visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop
- Familiarity with connecting to data sources, importing, and transforming data to build datasets
- Proficient in MS SQL Server BI Stack tools and technologies, including Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL, Power Query M formula language, MDX, and DAX
- Expertise in using advanced-level calculations and computations on the dataset
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of reporting and business intelligence best practices
- Familiarity with administrating the Power BI Gateway, scheduling dataset refreshes, and configuring/maintaining subscriptions
- Excellent communication skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field
- In-depth experience in all facets of Power BI
- Experience in data modeling, data transformation and data validation
- Mastery in data analytics
- 3+ years’ experience with MS SQL Server BI Stack (Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL, Power Query M formula language, MDX, and DAX)
- Experience in translating business requests into technical solutions
- Detail oriented and self-motivated
