- 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software ยท 2 years working as a Data Scientist
- Strong background in statistical modeling (e.g., program evaluation, forecasting, time series, panel data, and/or high dimensional problems), economic theory, ML methods, and quantitative methods
- Hands on experience with at least one of the following: Python, Spark

The Emerging Countries regional marketing team is a group of specialists focused on leveraging data to identify trends and craft strategies to unlock growth of emerging marketplaces cluster. This team is looking for a talented data scientist who can work closely with marketing leaders to identify growth opportunities and build data driven approaches to make high impact business decisions. In this role you will define the problem, build statistical models and analytical frameworks to make key decisions, such as how much marketing to activate prior to receiving any customer signal, support up to senior leadership decision meetings around approving confidential funding requests (PRFAQs), and define & pick up decision processes that today rely on heuristics & proxies. The scientist should be capable to institute structure for problem solving and translate the business objectives into mathematical formulations, conduct deep dives to understand customer behavior and how customers interact with and respond to Amazonโs marketing campaigns on multiple channels in emerging marketplaces, and communicate the results in actionable form to the business leaders.
Key job responsibilities
Being the first such resource within this team you will build science, tools and models needed to produce these recommendations. As part of the core regional team you will own relationships with the senior most decision makers. In parallel, you will work with Scientists, Economists, Product Managers, and Software Developers in partner teams to provide meaningful feedback about stakeholder problems to inform business solutions and increase the velocity, quality, and scope behind our recommendations. Masters, MBA, or PhD degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in a stakeholder or customer-facing analyst or scientist role
- 8+ years business experience conducting analyses using statistical tools
- Marketing industry knowledge and previous experience in working on measurement / causal inference modeling
- 3+ yearsโ experience with scripting and programming languages e.g. R, SQL and Python, etc.
- 3+ yearsโ experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
- Experience working with Scientists, Economists, Software Developers, and/or Product Managers
