As a Vice President of Data Science and Analytics, you will drive fast time-to-value marketing performance measurement solutions that result in real business outcomes, actions and decisions using big data technologies. In this role you’ll leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, experimentation, sentiment analysis, acquisition modeling, sales pipeline conversion analytics, product performance analytics, predictive analytics, and data applications to build innovative analytics solutions that will connect insight into actionable operational drivers that transform the brand.

Where You Will Work:

  • You will travel on an as needed basis, up to 25%

A Day in the Life of the VP of Data Science and Analytics:

  • Lead the Analytics team, team operations, and team initiatives
  • Define the vision and roadmap for marketing analytics in close partnership with the CMO, EVP Marketing and Sales
  • Lead discussions with internal business partners to diagnose, recommend and implement solutions that support analytics initiatives in multiple business areas to solve problems, answer questions and drive insights, by framing the problems, developing hypotheses, designing solutions including success and testing criteria
  • Hands-on development and management of analytic solutions (including ML and AI) including defining the business need, sourcing the data, exploratory data analysis, model selection and validation, communicating the results, and linking the results to tangible operational drivers
  • Develop guided analytics, data visualizations and data services with efficient, automated processes that meet business needs and enable scalable solutions
  • Apply data science & analytics to real business problems, work closely with internal organizational boundary partners including product/engineering teams, marketing, sales, customer service, and finance to understand the event or series of precipitous events that causes a customer to be predisposed to churn or dissatisfaction and identify key operational actions required to improve customer satisfaction
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external research vendors on customer satisfaction, NPS and focus group survey design, survey programming, and sampling methodology to ensure accurate, reliable and relevant qualitative/quantitative outcomes
  • Utilize statistical or algorithmic attribution methodologies to determine the degree to which each channel or campaign contributes to the customers’ path to conversion and the company’s success
  • Manage all aspects of collecting, synthesizing, and transforming competitive data into actionable competitive intelligence
  • Deliver analytical insights to marketers and other key stakeholders to better inform our understanding of customers, customer journeys, products and the industry-at-large
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and evangelize the benefits of data-driven decision science
  • Ensure best in class practices are followed in the implementation and integration of analytics technology
  • Deliver high quality, timely, and actionable insights that define opportunities and risks and translate into clear recommendations with associated implications for the business
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 5+ years in direct leadership and practical application of data science, big data techniques, machine learning, optimization, and statistics to real-world problems
  • 10+ years of experience beyond academia, which includes both hands-on work and technical leadership
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • 3+ years of marketing industry experience in predictive modeling and analysis
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing data science, or similar role using data
  • Experience with programming languages (SQL, R, etc.), reporting and data exploration tools (Tableau, R Shiny, Alteryx, etc.), and data technologies such as Teradata, Oracle, Postgres, Google Cloud, Azure, MS SQL Server/Analysis Services, etc.
  • A solid story teller who can transform data into insights, and insights into a compelling narrative
  • Comfortable working flexibly and iteratively with large sets of structured and unstructured data
  • Strong analytical skills in the areas of exploratory data analysis, modeling and measurement
  • Familiarity and comfort with marketing concepts, channels, processes and initiatives
  • Highly effective communicator, capable of delivering business-shaping insights to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in communicating results from in-depth analysis to business unit leaders that will help them make strategic decisions
  • Media/Entertainment/Telecom experience a plus

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field

The base salary range for this position is $250,000 – $270,000, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
