We are looking for an Engineering Leader to lead our Core Data Services engineering team. This leader will manage Australia and US based teams and own the Core Data roadmap.
You will bring a wealth of experience in managing teams and success in delivering highly technical multi-quarter roadmaps. You will also need to be fairly comfortable with ambiguity and possess tools to work through ambiguity, craft strategy and drive execution. You will be able to work with your team to define architectural/organizational future states that we can scale to in years 2 and 3. We’ll need to make balanced calls that align with our forward-looking vision and current business & technology critical asks.

Your background:
- Experience (8+ years) leading engineering teams, with a clear understanding of the complexity of shipping state-of-the-art cloud services
- Experience (2+ years) leading teams running data infrastructure or data services at scale.
- Extensive engineering management experience, following Agile development processes with a history of shipping consumer products and cloud services.
- Experience managing managers of managers and a track record of scaling organizations with over 100 engineers
- Experience building and nurturing cultures of delivery excellence, shipping high-quality products to customers, preferably to an ecosystem of partners.

Nice to have:
- Previous experience leading teams working in the Streaming or Observability space.
- Previous experience having led teams thru arduous decomposition and architecture programs.

We’re transforming Atlassian and data is at the heart of that. Core Data is a set of business & technical data services that power Atlassian Products.
The Core Data Services team is part of Team Data, which is ~500 engineers who build and run services for all of Atlassian including: Storage, Data Warehousing, Machine Learning, Streaming, Data Engineering, and Our Customer Data Offering Atlassian Analytics.
This particular role will lead ~90 Engineers on day one. And be accountable for services such as, Data Abstraction, Streaming, Observability, and GraphAPI
