We are continuing to build our finance organization in Bangalore, and we are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join our team. This position will report directly to our Indirect Tax Manager and will work closely with existing team members. We want someone who enjoys coming to work, has a growth mindset and enjoys learning innovative technologies.
Responsibilities
- Manage the compliance process of a remit of global group companies including Business Licenses and registrations, working closely with existing team members and the greater global tax team
- Coordinate with Internal teams and external advisors to obtain information necessary for resolving indirect tax compliance issues and streamlining the process
- Assist in indirect tax audits by collaborating with stakeholders to collect the data and perform analysis & first level review
- Assist in the ongoing analysis of tax compliance, reports/data analysis, including research and documentation of indirect tax law developments
- Work with the SOX team to modify (where needed), implement and maintain appropriate indirect tax controls
- Handling Notices and letter of communications received from states/provinces via emails and state calls
- Document and implement indirect tax reporting policies and procedures
- Develop your knowledge of Canada GST/US Indirect Tax laws that apply to the business and keep up to date with changes / US/Canada indirect laws (exemption cert process)
- Develop in-depth knowledge of tools and applications in support of the VAT / Sales Tax process. (Alteryx, Smartsheet, RPA tool etc.)
- Eager to continue learning, stay abreast of and adapt to international tax developments including Digital Services Tax
- Strive to add value to current processes through automation and simplification
- Participate in internal projects to minimize and mitigate compliance and audit risks, including SOX, control execution and analytical & targeted reviews
- Excited to assist with tax planning initiatives, tax audits and Tax Technology projects
- Perform customer & vendor invoice compliance reviews and follow up on corrections
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant tax experience in a major practice and/or industry experience with focus on international indirect tax compliance Ability to research and interpret various tax laws and regulations
- Along with experience in Sales Tax/Canada GST or VAT, keen Interest in international taxes including LATAM, APAC and emerging taxes e.g., Digital Services Taxes
- Solid understanding of indirect tax accounting in the general ledger and financial statements, US accounting knowledge a plus
- SAP, Vertex & Alteryx experience would be a significant plus, but is not absolutely required
- Proficient with various indirect tax engines (Vertex / Avalara) and compliance software
- Sense of responsibility, Accountability, initiative, and high-quality work standards
- Project management skills will be an added advantage
- Strong attention to detail and adaptable to new technologies and a quick learner
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
