About The Role:
The Director, Data Engineering and Architect is a strategically important position reporting to the CIO of Bagel Brands. The position will be responsible for building and overseeing Bagel Brands data engineering, support and architecture and its transition to a data driven decision making organization. The role will bring value to the organization through thought leadership, design and execution of our organizations data vision. In addition, the role will keep a keen focus on data quality, delivery and modeling to drive key business objectives. This will require a deep understanding of existing and new innovative technology services available to improve the organizations management and analysis of our data assets. The role will also be a leader and mentor, directly and indirectly, while working across departments and brands leading through coaching and influence.

The position is based in Lakewood, CO.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
People leader and developer
  • Manage day to day activities for the IT Data Solutions Team to enable effective business operations and outcomes.
  • Engage as a technical thought leader to our IT team, as well as senior leadership and various stakeholders such as the Data Science team.
  • Build a culture of compassionate accountability, focused on creating great and consistent stakeholder experiences and value.
  • Exhibit leadership by example through effective coaching, motivating, and reinforcing the company’s principles and core values.
  • Drives thought leadership and change enablement for the adoption of new technology, data standards and protocols as well as processes in areas relevant to the organization.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and be open for feedback to improve individual and team performance.
Essential Functions
  • Manage all the organizations data architecture and maintain the integrity, stability and security of our cloud database platforms while ensuring functionality and ease of use.
  • Provide insight into the changing database storage and utilization requirements for our data assets and offer suggestions for solutions.
  • Analyze data creation, storage and integration requirements for new software and applications.
  • Continuously manage and improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new processes and technologies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team to identify future needs and requirements.
  • Administer mapping and documentation of all data sources, movement, and integrations. Analyze it to ensure appropriate quality of all data.
  • Develop and test business continuity processes and policies in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with new and existing vendors and provide oversight on project objectives.
  • Manage various data problems and objectives such as system configuration and integration on multiple business platforms.
  • Determine procedure to identify and collect all required data, validate process, and recommend improvements to corporate data through roadmap development.
  • Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions and facilitate the sunsetting of the legacy systems.
  • Design conceptual and logical data models to support our stakeholder and business objectives.
  • Coordinate with clients, data users and key stakeholders when developing data roadmaps to achieve various long-term objectives for our data architecture.
  • Coordinate with project supervisors and business stakeholders when involved in projects regarding enterprise data.
  • Other duties as assigned by CIO
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
  • 10+ years of BI development experience using MS technology stack
  • 5+ years of experience developing both multidimensional and tabular models with large and complex datasets
  • Azure cloud experience required
  • Strong proficiency in Azure Databricks, Data Lake Store & Data Factory, SQL, Excel, Power BI. Python is a bonus.
  • Excellent problem solving, systems thinking, and communication skills
  • Snowflake experience would be a positive
  • Effective communication with peers and ability to multitask and work in a team environment with a can-do attitude
  • Able to emphasize methodology, modeling, and governance
  • Understanding of Agile software development and Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to learn new applications and technologies quickly
  • Ability to adhere to coding standards and conduct routine design and code reviews
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot technology problems with speed and accuracy

Compensation Range:

: $160,000.00 – $165,000.00 (depending on experience and location)
