Position Summary:
The Lead, Research & Data Services provides comprehensive research and information services to consulting, practice area and business function staff. Frequently works as part of case teams to facilitate research planning, information management, training, and capture of research experience. The Lead may have specialized knowledge of resources in one of Bain’s Practice Areas.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
Research
o Conducts research for local and regional case teams, Practice Areas and client development utilizing electronic, print and other resources as assigned under the guidance of a Lead, Manager or Senior Manager
o Provides filtered and well organized research results
o May participate as a member of an Industry Team supporting cases, responds to requests from client teams; however, should also be proficient in conducting research in all areas of interest to Bain
o Proactively works with Case Teams to understand the project context and specific information needs
o May build industry and/or capability expertise by attending Practice Area meetings, industry conferences and regular reading of trade and internal publications
o Solicits feedback from internal clients
Asset Building
o Participates in or leads asset building including contributions to knowledge sharing and other projects as assigned
o May participate as an active member of an Industry Team
o Participates in ongoing product and service evaluations and resource development activities and participates in implementation as appropriate
o Leads scheduled business research and just-in-time training staff at all levels
Administrative:
o Tracks personal research requests including cost recovery information
o Participates in Information Services marketing efforts
o Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen skill set by participating in special projects
o Provides ongoing support for basic asset-building activities including processing orders and new acquisitions, cataloging and serials check-in, end-user system updates, tracking circulation of materials from the collection and ongoing maintenance of print and other special collections
o Processes invoices
Position Qualifications:
o Degree in information science or business from an accredited university – or equivalent higher education degree
o 9-11 years of experience conducting business research in a fast-paced consulting, financial services or other business setting or equivalent preferred
o Experience with Factiva, Thomson databases and other standard business research tools preferred
o Training and presentation skills
o Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English required
