Job Title: Data Analyst
Location: Chennai
The Business Analyst role is part of the wider USCB Data Platforms – Data Analystics team. Core responsibility of the candidate is to ensure the Analysis and delivery of data Analytics projects and manage the change activities where possible. Managing the incoming data asks, tracking and delivering the data asks, and small change backlog are also part of the responsibilities
What will you be doing?
- Assist in acquiring access to data to support data analysis work.
- Perform Data Profiling, Data Cleansing, Analysis and Reporting.
- Apply technical skills and statistical methods to analyse Use Cases and Data Issues.
- Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Build data models to address business problems.
- Use Data Mining and Business Intelligence / data visualization tools to present information.
- Ensure conformance with Data Governance principles and standards, Data Privacy etc.
- Excellent Knowledge of industry/market trends in the Credit Card domain
- Good understanding of Customer Journeys in the Credit Card domain
- Interpret and analyse research information and data to gain business insight and drive sound decisions
- Support daily stand ups, retrospectives, showcases etc. where required with the rest of the sprint team
- Provide end to end ownership of business requirements for a medium to large project
- Contribute to continuous improvement into existing product, and ways of working
- Will work with data source owners to understand the structures and make-up of relevant data sources for the purpose of extracting this data
- Will work with Data Architecture to design target data structures that meet the desired project outcomes
- Will define the relevant source-to-target mappings including any required data transformations between data sources and targets
- Will work closely with USCB Data Leads to ensure all data changes are modelled correctly
What we’re looking for:
- Expert level SQL skills
- Comprehensive working knowledge on Oracle
- Profound understanding or working experiences in SQL and NO SQL Databases
- Good experience on LCT process, Version controlling, Unix Scripting
- Well versed with Agile Processes
- Strong knowledge of business analysis tools and techniques
- Strong Data Analysis skills, experience in Data Migration analysis
- Experience of working within a System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile project environment (Agile Central, JIRA, Confluence, Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience working in an Agile team using Agile Central, JIRA, Confluence etc, to capture business requirements and produce actionable user stories
- Experience working with a highly distributed team in multiple locations, third party vendors
- Understanding of product development and management in an agile environment
- Understsnding of systems engineering concepts
- Prior line management experience (good to have)
- Data Manipulation – The person must be able to design technical source to target mappings expressing any transformations in SQL based syntax. Additionally, this person will be able to write advanced SQL to create bespoke tables/ views in relational databases. The person can use tools such as Oracle, Mongo DB, MS SQL Server Management Studio, Toad and/or MS Excel.
- Data Analytics and Insight – Is able to use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns that provide insights into specific data sets and is able to propose
- Data Visualisation – Is able to use tools such as Tableau, QlikView and/or Microstrategy to provide easy to understand graphical representations of data sets.
- Data Presentation SkillsIs able to define and present a narrative on a piece of data analysis which can then be played back to senior management within the Function
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Good understanding of Financial Regulations and an interest in Banking
- Knowledge in Customer Journeys in Banking Domain
- Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau)
- Understanding of machine-learning
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong analytical and logical skills – the ability to resolve issues in a high-pressure environment.
- In depth Knowledge of software development ‘best practices’ and software development life cycle.
- Very effective communicator. Should have excellent written and verbal English language skills
- Data modelling – Familiar with different data modelling techniques for the purpose of understanding the data
