Introduction:
You will be part of the leadership team working with peers to ensure best practices are adopted by all teams and developing a delivery strategy to refine and improve the methods in which solutions and services are delivered.
You will be Responsible for creating technology solutions to meet business requirements, in line with Cluster and Group IT Strategies and Architectures.
Working with the relevant Project Manager, Lead Solutions Designer, or Technology Partner you will be responsible for ensuring that the outcomes delivered by projects are consistent with the original solution objectives.
What will you be doing?
Delivery (85%)
- Accountable for the production of high quality software on a personal and team level adhering to all software engineering quality standards / benchmarks.
- Collaborate and communicate with other developers and team members to build technical solutions that meet customer needs.
- Demonstrate passion for adoption of new tools, processes and technical developments to drive continuous improvement by maintaining an in-depth understanding of relevant and up to date knowledge of applications and techniques.
- Ensure developed code is of high quality and cost-effective to maintain.
Stakeholder Management (15%)
- Develop close working relationships with the Business Analyst, Product Owner, Solution Architect, QA Engineer and Developers that form the team.
- Decent understanding of emerging software development methods, tools and standards and actively keep this knowledge current.
- Identify own development needs and seek opportunities to address these needs through guidance, coaching and formal training.
- Ability to be able to provide succinct details in written format and verbally to Stakeholders.
- Presents a positive, professional, constructive image to internal and external customers and suppliers alike.
- Working with peer group in the business, can identify customer satisfaction gaps through regular communication.
- Able to work with Lead Solutions Architect and Lead Technology partner to represent department to senior business stakeholders.
What we’re looking for:
- Must have Strong skills in Object Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts, Core Java 7/8, Middle tier technologies e.g. JPA/hibernate, Spring, unit testing, mocking frameworks and caching concepts clarity.
- Strong Java development skills
- Experience in TDD/BDD.
- Appreciation of REST API design
- Ensuring early feedback loops within team and enabling quality at source
- Ensuring API Engineering Metrics are tracked, reported and maintained on a daily basis across project delivery
- API Security / authentication knowledge (OAuth2)
- Web services / API development experience using REST / SOAP
- Appreciation of cloud / distributed architecture
- Experience of participating as a member of an Agile development team
- Strong experience using Spring 3/4 (including Core Spring Framework, Spring Boot)
- Strong understanding of OO Designing and Programming Techniques and associated concepts, Data Modelling, Design Patterns
- Strong understanding of TDD with extensive experience of automated unit testing (e.g. JUnit) using mock object frameworks
- Hands of experience in any of Chef, SonarQube, Jenkins, Jprofiler, etc.
- Hands on experience in any cloud hosting, DevOps and CI:CD
- Experience using project and dependency management tools such as Maven, Gradle, BackboneJS
- Passionate about Software Craftsmanship (e.g. Clean Code, Pair Programming, Peer Reviews, Test-Driven Development, Refactoring)
- Experience enforcing code quality using tools like Sonarqube and Veracode as feedback loops.
- A natural collaborator keen to learn from others
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback at all levels
- Working in an Agile Environment
- Strong Analytical skills
- Hands on experience in Jira/Agile Central, Confluence.
- Experience of using the Git(or similar) source code control system
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Experience of working within Financial Services
- Knowledge of the Akana / MuleSoft API platforms
- RDBMS development experience (e.g. Oracle) & SQL skills
- Experience of developing software for multiple Operating Systems (e.g. Linux, Windows)
- Experience of working within a regulatory driven change environment
- Knowledge on UI technologies like HTML, JSP, Java Script, Angular JSAppreciation of Event Driven Architecture & Domain Driven Design
- Experience of working on Nexus, Groovy,
- Experience of using test automation tools (e.g. Selenium), Performance Test tool(eg.,Jmeter)
- Experience in test plans and test documentations, ensuring bi directional traceability matrix
- Manual Testing as required through Insomnia, Postman or any other similar tools
