Main responsibilities of the role include performing data and implementation deep dives to aid the validation of models performed across the team. The primary aims of the analysis are to ensure:
1. Underlying data used in model build and on-going monitoring/ validation conforms with requirements in the Model Risk Policy and
2. The model is implemented as per its documented specifications
Technical Validation (80%)
- Engage with Model Owner, Developers and IT to communicate IVU expectations around the quality of data within model submissions
- Perform data quality and implementation analyses as critical elements to support the overall IVU review and challenge process for all new and existing models
- Ensure the strict principles of the Model Risk Policy through conclusions of data and implementation validity lending to model approval, rejection and feedback to drive continuous improvements across Barclays
- Ensure accuracy and transparency of documentation with respect to model implementation and model inputs and outputs
- Produce high quality IVU reports and presentation for key stakeholders
- Support the line manager and Director in the IVU team in the approval of models
- Contribute to ensuring that the IVU team provides high quality input and guidance to modellers across the bank to achieve a high standard of models
- Ensure that the Model Risk Policy and external regulator requirements are upheld
- Data analytics – Ability to analyse, validate the data used, process followed.
- Project Management – Ability to run projects independently and has a grasp of PM concepts and best practices.
- Experience of or exposure to either Technology or Data Science: Ability to understand, discuss, design and implement solutions. Should be able to write code when necessary.
- Communication – Strong communication skills.
- Honours or Masters degree in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Computational Science
- Knowledge of / experience in Python coding
- Comfortable in using blend technologies which could include: a range of the following scripting/query/BI packages: VBA, Python, R, SQL, SAS and relational database technologies ranging from: Teradata, Oracle, and MS SQL Server.
- Experience with Project Management tools (JIRA, MS Project) and the MS Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Project, Visio and SharePoint skills)
