Our vision for Senior Director, Digital Quality & Analytics at BD

Reporting to the Worldwide Vice President Quality Management, Central Quality, the Senior Director, Digital Quality & Analytics, provides direct oversight of the BD quality digital and data analytics roadmap. This role will enable strategic decision making through data analytics and demonstrate the value of the analytics platforms through measurable improvements against BD’s strategic and operational goals. This position works with the company Quality Leadership teams to determine and drive the quality digital roadmap and its implementation across the company, which includes data management.


About the role:

You will provide assessment of the organization to ensure company quality tools and digital solutions are aligned with current regulatory requirements, standards, and industry trends. Implements technologies to ensure product quality and compliance issues are addressed in a timely manner and provide the organization with the tools to become more proactive in identifying issues and area of improvement. Provide guidance and support for department staff to ensure functional and departmental goals and responsibilities are met.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop digital roadmap for the Quality organization in partnership with Quality Leadership Team
  • Global Process Owners and TGS lead, and drive its successful execution, this includes data management
  • Set the strategic direction for the data science and data analytics team that focuses on the quality priorities leveraging existing and new technologies (eg. Artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML))
  • Partner with other functions including TGS and ISC to establish a standard of excellence to develop and implement data management, metrics, and dashboards for quality processes
  • Work with Global Process Owners to define technology solutions, measures and data analytics needs and roadmap for each quality system elements
  • Ensure that the Quality function is fit to the future – anticipates and plans for capabilities/digital technologies/resources that are needed in the future as the Healthcare environment changes
  • Drive continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the quality supporting technology and digital solutions
  • Owns and ensures that Data Management quality system element is effectively implemented E2E across BD
  • Identify and drive adoption of technology solutions that drive measurable business outcomes in partnership with TGS and the VPs of Quality for the Bus and Regions
  • Develop data management and data analytics literacy and capabilities across the Quality organization
  • Provide continuous feedback to improve digital enablement/solutions within the Quality function
  • Works with other Quality Leaders and TGS Partner to ensures digital solutions used for GMP purposes is validated appropriately across BD using a combination of training, processes, systems, and procedures
  • Participate in industry trade groups and provide BD point of view to actively influence the development of industry positions that may impact the future of quality and use of digital solutions to lead quality process and architecture


Supervision and Budgetary Responsibility:

  • Be responsible for the data science/data analytics team, technology integration portfolio and master data teams
  • Lead Global Process Owner for Data Management
  • Lead Central Quality Computer System Validation team
  • Direct the preparation of the department budgets and maintain operating costs within constraints of those budgets
  • Manages project budgets as needed


About you:

To be successful in this role, you require:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems
  • Strong communicator capable of interfacing at senior levels.

  • Demonstrated understanding of change management and the tools used to effectively embed change in the organization
  • Knowledge of Program Management principles and methodology (including Agile framework)
  • Ability to lead/manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Innovation leadership in concepts processes and tools
  • Strategic planning and thinking
  • Understanding of financial concepts and processes
  • Strong IT technology / digital solutions implementation knowledge and experience
  • Proven ability to work globally; ability to lead a global team and lead across cultures


Education and experience required:

  • Bachelors in science, engineering or others related field. Graduate degree preferred
  • 15+ Years Quality Management Experience in Medical Device or regulated injury preferred
