Job Summary
Bechtel’s Corporate Project Controls Insight and Analytics team leads the effort to implement interactive analytics across Bechtel as part of the company’s goal to become more data-centric in delivering for our customers. Our goal is to provide best-of-class tools that help to provide timely and actionable data and insights to the stakeholders who can effectively use that data to drive decision making at all levels of the company. The I&A Business Intelligence Analyst will provide creative and technical support primarily to Project Controls by building tools, deploying them to projects, training project teams on how to effectively use them and fostering a data-centric attitude company-wide.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and development of business intelligence and data analytical Power BI dashboards and visualizations
- Design and develop pixel perfect paginated reports using current tools such as Power BI Report Server
- Design and develop complex data models connecting into Bechtel’s BSAP tools and other data resources such as Excel files and other custom data sources
- Collaborate with project and function teams to determine specific analytical needs, best practice tools and effective data delivery strategies
- Support special needs as required including preparation of tools for customer demonstrations, ad hoc reporting and other analytics
- Cross-train and share best practices across the company using standard communication tools such as SharePoint and Yammer
- Lead and collaborate on efforts to standardize tools across business lines to make them easily deployable and understandable on multiple levels
- Create training materials and documentation supporting the team’s goals, processes and procedures including in such areas as data governance, deployment and maintenance
- Acts as a “Super-User” for Bechtel’s enterprise performance management system, specifically but not limited to Power BI to include training users, troubleshooting system issues and contributing to system enhancements.
- Leads in designing complex Business Intelligence information models, dashboards, metrics and reports utilizing standard technologies and methodologies that meet business objectives.
- Combines programming, SQL skills, best practices and business expertise to deliver efficient and scalable Business Intelligence solutions to improve business productivity and business outcomes.
- Generates summary and specified dashboard accounts which represent operational data in brief and intelligible format, suitable for the target audience, which includes executive leadership
- Coordinates GBU, Functions and Services use of the enterprise reporting system to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data.
- Consistently improves the quality of deliverables
- Collaborates and builds relationships with team and other stakeholders
- Reports to the Manager of Corporate Project Controls
Job Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, consulting, or project controls along with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field of study preferred
- Experience in the engineering, construction, banking, or consulting industries preferred
- Able to work effectively with a high degree of independence and autonomy
- Demonstrates strong planning, organizational, time management, and decision-making skills
- Strong research, analytical, organizational, and written and oral communication skills
- Able to explain complex topics in simple terms
- Understands database management and reporting
- High aptitude for learning quickly and assimilating information into concise summaries
- Demonstrates curiosity, self-learning, and complex problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with cross-functional and distributed teams
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity and instills trust at all times
Quantitative Skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables and a high degree of uncertainty
- Experience in working with databases, APIs, and data modeling
- Advanced experience with data objects and their relationships for Bechtel Project Controls Applications
- Advanced experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps), SSRS, MS Excel and other BI tools
- Familiarity with one or more Bechtel BSAP tools including but not limited to EcoSys, E-track, Setroute and P6
Communication Skills
- Clear and direct verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analysis in a simple way
- Experience creating PowerPoint presentations and Word documents
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
