Position Summary
This Payroll Business Analyst position is primarily responsible for organizing and implementing changes to the Global Bechtel Business Services (BBS) Payroll system and Global Card Services expense allocation software and does so in coordination with business process owners and subject matter experts. Additionally, serves as the liaison between the finance user group and the appropriate Information Technology group at the direction of the Payroll Operation supervisor(s). Also, functions as a finance group advocate for system strategies.
Responsibilities
- Work with the functional owners and subject matter experts to understand and analyze business and regulatory requirements and corporate initiatives and recommend solutions to systems issues.
- Prepare applicable documentation (functional specifications, decision papers, test cases, test plan, etc.) as needed to support requested and regulatory changes/updates to production finance systems.
- Effectively interface with technical and functional teams as needed to ensure system capability and specifications align with proposed modification of the finance application.
- Prepare solutions in support of proposed production system modifications.
- Attend meetings to represent the functional organizations in support of proposed solutions for payroll or expense allocation applications.
- Complete integration testing of proposed solutions, quality center test cases, and project schedule objects.
- Communicate production system changes to the appropriate functional organization to generate desktop procedure and process map updates by the functional department.
- Develop training materials relative to production system modifications and deliver training as necessary.
- Support management through ad hoc data collection, reporting, and analysis and special projects as required.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor level degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, or a minimum 4 years of hands-on payroll experience in a fairly big organization in lieu of degree.
- Must have the legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid working knowledge of SAP Payroll module and related systems.
- Strong analytical mindset with a technical aptitude.
- Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to exercise initiative and make decisions with little or no supervision and be accountable for such actions.
- Understanding of payroll compliance and knowledge of Bechtel Policies and Procedures.
- 2 years of payroll systems analysts experience.
- Able to learn systems quickly such as Forms+, Electronic File Storage Retrieval System (File NET), and other types of Payroll and Finance related systems.
- Experience developing Test Plans and writing Specifications for the technical team.
- Systems experience with Concur, or similar expense management program.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Oracle interface experience.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in the areas of oral and written communications, project financial process controls, MS Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel), accounts payable, general ledger and billing.
