SUMMARY

At Author Health, we are a new company offering technology-enabled health care services for seniors with complex mental health conditions. We seek a Senior Data Architect to oversee the entire data infrastructure of a growing, dynamic healthcare provider. You’ll use your expertise to lead data architect activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the healthcare industry. You’ll oversee the development and deployment of pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful, enabling our outstanding clinicians to provide cutting edge care to our patients.

You’ll guide and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. You’ll use your expertise in analytical exploration and data examination while you oversee the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms to our entire team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Builds data models and defines the structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, with consideration of every aspect of a healthcare institution’s operations — patient data, vendors, staffing needs, etc.

Develops strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition and access, and data archiving and recovery.

Establishes & maintains the data architecture framework for the organization with the standards and principals required

Enforces adherence to established standards. Integrity and organization must be handled appropriately through the full lifestyle of the data.

May evaluate new data sources in consideration of integration and adherence to healthcare specific requirements and standards.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry analyzing multiple data asset types (e.g. administrative claims, EMR, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with data engineering, data architecture, and application development
  • 3+ years of experience with designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications at enterprise scale
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud computing environments
  • 3+ years of experience with creating solutions for managing, processing, and sharing data
  • 3+ years of experience with data ingestions, wrangling and cleansing, data gathering, data mining, data analysis, data modeling, data architecture design, and using analytical & data visualization tools
  • Effectively using data gathering, data mining, data analysis techniques
  • Experience with cloud based analytic tools like PySpark or DataBricks
  • Experience with Agile engineering practices
  • Ability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Scala, and Java
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux
  • Experience with distributed data and computing tools, including Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB or Cassandra
  • Experience with data warehousing using AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake
  • Builds geospatial data representations and map layers.
  • Experience with data ingestion, wrangling and cleansing, analytical & data visualization tools such as Apache NiFI, Kylo, Scripting, Power BI, Tableau and/or Qlik.
  • Experience in consuming REST based API (with JSON payload) is a plus.

EDUCATION

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Healthcare or related field

This is a full-time, exempt role, with 10% travel possible. This role is fully remote. Physical requirements include ability to use a computer.
