About this role
Internal Audit serves as an independent assurance and advisory function at BlackRock that enhances and protects organizational value by providing risk based and objective assessment, advice, and insight. Our team is global, and our mandate is to objectively assess the adequacy and effectiveness of BlackRock’s internal control environment to improve risk management, control, and governance processes. To maintain independence, Internal Audit reports directly to the Audit Committee of the BlackRock Inc. Board of Directors and administratively to the President of BlackRock, Inc.
Internal Audit’s Data Analytics (DA) team leverages various data science, business intelligence, and analytics methods to assess BlackRock’s control environment. DA team members may design and perform certain tests for audits of BlackRock’s business units (including investment and asset management, risk management, operations, finance, and legal and compliance) as well as technology controls, across application systems and infrastructure components (such as databases, operating systems, data centers and messaging platforms). The DA team is also responsible for building and maintaining an inventory of self-service tools for the auditors, supporting the risk assessment of auditable units for the annual planning process, and developing timely and accurate management information to help drive efficiencies and insight in the department’s operation.
This Vice President, DA role will provide strategic support to Internal Audit’s assurance and advisory activities with a focus on investment and investment-related activities. The role will require the use of various data science and data analytics tools and techniques to design, execute, and provide oversight on audit tests, scalable audit solutions, and repeatable audit testing. Finally, it will involve managing and/or mentoring junior DA team members and others in the department that are interested in learning more about data analysis and data science.
The right individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be interested in adding high value as a member of the team, and help evolve our audit processes, tools, and methodologies. The DA team is looking for an innovative self-starter who is eager to learn new technologies and work with others to have an impact. We value creativity and encourage our team members to challenge the status quo of how audits and audit testing is performed.

Our hybrid work pilot
BlackRock’s current hybrid work pilot is designed to help you experience the best of both worlds: the opportunity to connect with colleagues in person and the flexibility to work remotely, with greater time to focus on what’s important to you. In line with local health guidance and regulations, employees are generally expected to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home (on average) each week. For some business groups, more time may be required in the office, while greater flexibility may be in place for others. Our “One BlackRock” culture means you’ll be supported to collaborate with your new colleagues while bringing your full self to work – wherever you are.
The health, safety and well-being of our people will always be our top priorities; we will continue to monitor local conditions and health advisories in making decisions about our work environments.
At BlackRock, we are all connected by one mission: to help more and more people experience financial well-being. Our clients, and the people they serve, are saving for retirement, paying for their children’s educations, buying homes and starting businesses. Their investments also help to strengthen the global economy: support businesses small and large; finance infrastructure projects that connect and power cities; and facilitate innovations that drive progress.
This mission would not be possible without our smartest investment – the one we make in our employees. It’s why we’re dedicated to creating an environment where our colleagues feel welcomed, valued and supported with networks, benefits and development opportunities to help them thrive.
