The Strategic Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for the collection, processing, and analysis of cyber threats affecting BMO. The Analyst will support the strategic intelligence function of BMO’s cyber Threat Intelligence and Analytics team. Functions include research and production of timely, accurate, and actionable cyber threat intelligence analysis to support BMO decision makers and security operations personnel.
Strategic Threat Intelligence is a component of Cybersecurity’s Threat Intelligence and Analytics team. Strategic Threat Intelligence’s mandate is to keep BMO safe from cyber threats by delivering timely, relevant, and insightful decision making oriented intelligence analysis to BMO stakeholders. The team achieves this through rigorous forward leaning research and analysis on threats to BMO and the financial service sector. Analysis conducted by Strategic Threat Intelligence is evaluative and estimative – delivering stakeholders the ‘so-what’ and ‘what’s-next’ perspective on the cyber threat landscape.
This is role is REMOTE/VIRTUAL role.
TOP Responsibilities for the role :

Maintaining a deep understanding of the cyber threat landscape and how it relates to BMO.

Owning the creation and delivery of recurring intelligence products and briefs to support a wide range of BMO stakeholders.

Providing tailored adhoc intelligence analysis support to leadership requests for information during steady state and crisis conditions.

Supporting BMO intelligence collection initiatives, including collection planning and the maintenance of stakeholder intelligence requirements.

Collaborating with government and industry cyber threat intelligence partners to enhance BMO’s understanding of the overall cyber threat landscape.
Provides analysis and reporting services in support of businesses/groups and BMO overall. Builds relationships and liaises with stakeholders to understand problems and opportunities and recommends solutions to enable the organization to meet its goals. Analyzes data and creates documents and plans in service of informing, advising, or updating internal stakeholders. Ensures that requirements map to a real business need, are approved by all relevant stakeholders, and meet essential quality standards. Participates or conducts user acceptance testing to ensure that changes made are in alignment with business requirements. Provides great customer service in support of the information security processes, applications and infrastructure.

- Gathers requirements and documents these requirements for use in various audits, reports, & projects.

- Facilitates discussions and follows a structured approach to plan, elicit, analyze, document, communicate and manage requirements.
- Analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
- Collects, organizes, analyzes and disseminates significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Develops and implements data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Provides analytical support and insights.
- Filters and “cleans” data, and reviews reports and key performance indicators to locate and correct data issues.
- Performs documentation writing and maintenance of new and existing processes, procedures and requirements.
- Recommends approaches to streamline and integrate information security processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency.
- Remains alert to new information security technologies and threats that present risk to the enterprise and determines the best approach to mitigate these risks.
- Stays abreast of industry trends/risks related to information security, technology and business trends / risks through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning.
- Ensures consistent, high quality practices/work and the achievement of business results in alignment with business/group strategies and with productivity goals.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

Qualifications:
Must have 2-4 years of experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence or Government Intelligence Analyst roles.
Outstanding analytic and critical thinking skills.
- Strong ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner. Familiarity with structured analytical techniques is an asset.
- Exceptional research, analysis and writing skills, preferably in intelligence or security related matters.
- Familiarity with cyber security principles and issues preferred.
- Self-motivated, team player with good interpersonal skills. Must work with initiative and work well independently and under pressure.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of banks and the financial service sector is a plus.
- Knowledge of the intelligence cycle, particularly within a private sector environment is an asset.
- Typically between 2 – 4 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preference for candidates who have or are pursuing at least one certification in a related field, with strong preference for Information Security certifications from a well-recognized institution (e.g. (ISC)2, ISACA, SANS).
- Experience in information security, technology, business requirements gathering and reporting in a financial services setting.
- Data manipulation and analysis skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy – In-depth.
- Knowledge of Information Security processes, procedures and controls – In-depth.
- Understanding of Information Security risk and regulatory requirements – In-depth.
- Understanding and problem solving ability of IS issues within their business group – Good.
