Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett, WA is seeking ARINC 629 Data Bus Avionics Systems Engineer to join the ARINC 629 Data Bus Avionics Systems Engineer responsible for ensuring the successful integration of the ARINC 629 system into the various LRU’s connected to the buses as well as providing support in the FAA certification of ARINC 629 system on the 777-9 and any A629 changes to the existing legacy 777 airplanes. There is product development opportunity to drive airplane-level performance (e.g. Weight saving) and functional capabilities for future commercial aircraft.

The individual would also help with all aspects of the ARINC 629 bus design and implementation. This includes, but is not limited to:

Position Responsibilities:
Assist with certification deliverables and activities

Update ARINC 629 documents to reflect the changes from legacy 777 to 777-9

Maintain and coordinate ARINC 629 system requirements levied on systems utilizing the ARINC 629 data buses

Ensure the system requirements are met by leading and coordinating the ARINC 629 Terminal Review and checklist process.

Maintain and ensure configuration control of ARINC 629 buses

Assignment and documentation of data bus protocol parameters, channel IDs, labels.

Tracking and monitoring of the data bus loading status as well as monitoring and assisting in the development and implementation of airplane level gateway functions where A629 data buses are involved.

Provide A629 training and guidance to LRU equipment managers, LRU suppliers and others as needed including updating and maintaining A629 system description and component data sheet documentation.

Coordinate and communicate answers to technical questions from data bus users.

Monitor and assist A629 users in transmit schedule creation and changes

Support LRU supplier implementation of ARINC 629 components into their systems.

Evaluate proposed A629 user LRU design changes which could potentially impact A629

Occasional travel to suppliers may be needed to support PDR, CDR, TCM’s, and certification related audits.

Support 777-9 A629 related airplane EICAS and maintenance message development

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years’ related work experience, a Master’s degree and typically 3 or more years’ related work experience

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):
6 or more years of experience with design engineering

Electrical or Computer engineering degree

Experience within Electronic Systems hardware and software design

Familiarity with engineering processes and methods

Knowledge of FAA certification

Experience with system design and integration during an airplane development program

Experience working with cross functional teams

Demonstrated project management skills within a fast paced highly integrated environment

Experience with Model Based Development tools.

Typical Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for mid-level: 85,000 – 152,000
