Boeing Test and Evaluation team is currently looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join their team in Bengaluru, KA. Test & Evaluation engineers at Boeing make sure that products at the world’s largest aerospace company continue to meet the highest standards. From quality and reliability, to safety and performance, their expertise is vital to the concept, design and certifications of a wide variety of commercial and military systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional teams to determine, define and deploy complex descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, or prescriptive analytic solutions integral to the Test and Evaluation of company products
- Interact with multiple stakeholders to identify business challenges that can be addressed by data science
- Apply comprehensive data science knowledge to propose optimal techniques for key business challenges
- Create detailed data science proposals, flagging any limitations of proposed solution
- Design and prototype experimental solutions
- Design scaled solutions and ensure high quality, performance and timely delivery
- Adapt recent developments in data science which could solve additional challenges
- Lead a team of data scientists providing technical guidance as well as career mentorship
- Support the growth of Boeing Test & Evaluation data science capability by contributing to activities such as tool and platform selection, best practice definition, knowledge sharing sessions, awareness sessions, ideation events, publications and creation of training materials
- Depending on the specific project, this role can expect 60-90% of the work to be hands-on developing solutions, with the remaining spent on planning and designing, overseeing and reviewing work of other team members and interfacing with stakeholders

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Hands-on experience building data science solutions to solve diverse engineering problems, preferably in the aerospace domain or production environments
- Must have experience in handling engineering data sets such as component failure data, engineering production process data, engineering test data, time series data etc
- Advanced working knowledge of Python/R or other languages/technologies for performing complex data modeling and analysis
- Breadth of knowledge across statistical methods, machine learning models, deep learning, natural language processing, conceptual modeling, predictive modeling, hypothesis testing to solve data problems
- Experience working with diverse datasets and databases like SQL, InfluxDB, graph database and familiarity with Big Data concepts, tools, and architecture
- Experience deploying solutions in a modern cloud-based architecture
- Experience presenting insights and influencing decisions of senior non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with visualization software such as Tableau would be preferable
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working independently in developing the analytics solutions
- Must be able to work collaboratively with very strong teaming skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.
- Develop and maintain relationships / partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects.
- Proactively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work.
- Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools to prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, proposals, and Statements of Work.
Typical Education & Experience:
Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science/ Engineering (Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical / Mechanical or equivalent discipline) with 12+ years’ experience in working with engineering data
