Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking a Systems Engineering Visualization, Modeling and Simulation Manager for El Segundo, CA.
The Systems Engineering VM&S Manager manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Visualization, Modeling, and Simulation as part of End-to-End Systems Engineering in the Space Domain.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops and executes Modeling and Simulation (M&S) project and process plans, implements team policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
Works directly with Sr. Leadership to acquire resources for M&S projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
Provides oversight and approval of M&S technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees.
The manager will lead engineering team members who are applying an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions through modeling and simulation.
Expected to leverage technical M&S skills and knowledge and work hand to hand with Engineering Team members to overcome challenges and meet deadlines.
Works closely with and provides technical guidance to team members who are evaluating customer’s operational needs and creating Visualizations and Simulations for Boeing Solutions.
Ensures that team members who are performing various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture have the resources needed to meet task objectives.
Expected to implement and promote the use of Boeing and Industry Model Based Engineering (MBE) techniques.
Expected to integrate and leverage Boeing MBSE processes and tools into M&S team workflow.
Works directly with Customers, VIPs, and Sr. Leadership to promote Boeing Products and Solutions through Team developed Visualizations and Simulations. This includes rapid turn-arounds and configuration changes to support Boeing Business Capture efforts.
Successfully completed a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or have you been enrolled in a Continuous Evaluation program such that periodic updates are no longer required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
3+ years’ experience leading teams
3+ years’ experience with Software development skills using either Java, C++, or Python
5+ years’ experience in space systems development
5+ years’ experience working with Modeling and Simulation Tools and Technologies
Desired Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience):
Excellent Communication Skills
Knowledge of AFSIM, STK, and Matlab is desired.
Basic Knowledge of SysML using a MBSE Tool such as Cameo, Sparx EA, or Rhapsody is desired.
Knowledge of orbit / constellation design and analysis
Knowledge of resource planning and scheduling algorithms
Knowledge of numerical optimization techniques
Knowledge of machine learning
