Position Overview:
The Artificial Intelligence (AI), Analytics and Autonomy group within BR&T India has an immediate opening for a frontline Manger to lead its team that performs applied research in areas such as Vehicle Health Management, Design Automation, Communication Networks and Air Traffic Systems using concepts such as modeling, simulation, AI-ML and analytics. The team is a mix of AI-ML researchers and subject matter experts.
Position Responsibilities:
This position will report to the Senior Manager for AI, Analytics and Autonomy and will be based in Bangalore. The responsibilities of this Manager will include:
- Leading a team of skilled engineers in research & technology development in a wide range of areas that could use modeling/simulation, machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Hiring and developing new employees to grow the team and its skill base.
- Developing and maintaining the skill set of current employees, as well as leading efforts to teach AI and ML across BIETC.
- Developing, planning and ensuring budget, schedule and quality of all projects
- Leveraging local and regional universities and partners to improve Boeing technologies
- Communicating project and lab status to Boeing management.
- Adding to the intellectual property portfolio of Boeing.
- Developing and maintaining relationships/partnerships with Boeing internal customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects
- Working with Boeing engineering teams across India to develop and implement plans/roadmap that use AI as an enabler to improve quality, productivity and affordability of engineers and Boeing products
- Collaborating with various teams in the Information Technology group in Bangalore such as Analytics, Supply chain, Product systems etc. to build solutions for the enterprise
- Understanding business landscape within India and identifying opportunities to develop in country for country solutions, using AI and following up on those opportunities.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- Masters in Engineering/Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated capability in leading people, projects and activities involving research in areas such as modeling/simulation, software, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- 15+ years’ work experience in aerospace/automotive or related industry, with experience in Research and Technology development.
- Track record in creating and deploying technology, creating intellectual property and publishing work in trade conferences and journals.
- Prior managerial experience leading diverse teams in a matrixed environment with demonstrated experience in people management & stakeholder management.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Ability to plan & lead multiple projects and meet deadlines, within budget.
- Strong written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
- Inspire teams and individuals to meet and exceed their goals.
- Deep and proven expertise in one or more areas such as: Software, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Airplane Health Management and Communication Networks.
- Experience of working in the aerospace industry and knowledge of design, manufacturing, sales and service of aircraft.
- Ability to develop technology roadmaps and research projects, through inputs from multiple stakeholders
- Work closely with a culturally and geographically diverse set of stakeholders.
Typical Education & Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Masters) and typically 15+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
