Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) P-8 Poseidon program is currently looking for a P-8 Software Product Owner to join their team. In this position, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers developing software for weapons integration, data fusion, tactical data links, and Operator Machine Interface (OMI), as well as the software execution environment for the platform, Simulation and Trainer support software. You’ll be an integral part of supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) P-8 Poseidon program, which is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Recent contract awards have enabled team expansion and growth. This franchise program is anticipated to continue to be a stable program for the foreseeable future located in Kent, WA.
Position Responsibilities
Lead a fast-paced Agile Development team, coordinate and implement customer requirements, demonstrate progress and capabilities to customers and stakeholders, and lead detailed planning
Manage backlog for software development team
Interface with our Navy customers on a regular basis
Participate in Program Increment Planning activities
Support the entire software development lifecycle (design, review, code, test, deliver, maintain)
Dedication to unit testing, test driven development, continuous integration and continuous development practices.
Documentation of system architecture, design and operation
Customer support, training, consulting, problem investigation and debugging
Workplace:
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Travel:
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is require
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ Years of experience in surveillance and weapons systems including; radar, ESM, acoustics, Data Links, and Harpoon
3+ Years of experience interfacing with U.S Government or external customers on requirements
5+ Years of experience leading engineering teams as a Product Owner or Technical Lead
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Experience in one or more of the following domain areas: sensors & sensor integration, weapons & weapon integration, tactical data links, trainers
Experience in specific scripting languages: XML, Pearl, Python
Experience in agile software development processes
Experience in use case development
Experience in protocols: Networking, Serial, Device I/O, Wireless Communication
Experience in verification of Training software and User Interface design
Experience in troubleshooting H/W and S/W issues in a complex environment
Experience in Linux OS Support (RHEL)
Experience in installation and configuration of Linux OS
Experience in startup and basic configuration of Virtual Machine and Virtual Network environments
Experience in supporting as-run test reports and other contractual deliverables
Typical Education/Experience
Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 7 or more years’ or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
