Job purpose
BorgWarner is currently seeking for a “dynamic, results-driven” individual to join as DevOps Manager at our World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
This is a unique opportunity to join the BorgWarner team in an area focusing on the company’s critical business needs of DevOps practices. This hands-on position will build-out the DevOps platform for the BorgWarner application space. This will include determining artifacts and documents for the current, interim, and future state of the technologies, applications and environments pertaining to the data and processes across the enterprise. It is a growing environment with an expectation of technical guidance and influence.
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture, with consulting and collaboration relationship across Business Unit and infrastructure DevOps Engineers.
Key responsibilities
Determine the Current State and Define Interim and Future States of DevOps Practice
  • Current footprint assessment leading to the enterprise DevOps opportunities and strategy for application development and data analytics
  • Definition, implementation, and execution of the processes for the definition, maintenance, and conformance management of the DevOps Practice.
  • Maintenance of the key DevOps processes and artifacts
DevOps Manager Role
  • Responsible for the software delivery, systems reliability, and scalability for the BorgWarner ’s application operations/integration/development systems and automation framework.
  • Create and implement the DevOps roadmap.
  • Partner with external consultants, vendors, and BorgWarner Business Units to build out the DevOps team.
  • Guide and assist the Business Unit teams on deployment and proactive support of software.
  • Implement automated infrastructure capabilities like backups, security tools, and monitoring.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to recognize and resolve issues and provide professional guidance for enhancements, development, and operational improvements.
  • Determine gaps or issues in the performance of all systems through monitoring, alert management, reporting and process reviews
  • Manage and ensure compliance with IT structures, processes and technologies while maintaining knowledge of and leverage IT industry technologies and trends.
  • Build a continuous improvement mindset for the DevOps environment and team.
What we’re looking for
Education/Experience
  • 5+ years of IT experience in the areas of application development, operations and/or support.
  • Demonstrated skills and actual examples of leading DevOps practice
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (GIT, Jenkins, JIRA, Terraform)
  • Must have experience with more than one of the following scripting languages such as Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Ruby, Python, Shell Script, or JavaScript.
  • Deep understanding and direct working experience with CI/CD pipeline.
  • Cloud experience is required (Azure, AWS or GCA).
